How to Help Those Who are Hurting from this bad Economy.

I am a "fixer" a savior of sorts; it's a part of my psyche that has its good and bad moments. Today I was thinking about all the people I know who have been laid off from their jobs because of the downturn in the economy. It's pretty dire for some who are in their upper 50's with no hope of finding another job. They're too old to hire (for most companies) and too young to retire. It's a tough situation they've found themselves in.

My own business is pretty good and I was thinking of how I can help my friends/family members who have been laid off from their jobs. I came up with a few thoughts that I've put into practice in my own business. Maybe some of you will find them useful as well. Feel free to add to the list!

1. Take inventory of your business and see if there's some way you can use a part time virtual assistant. I discovered that I would benefit greatly by hiring another editor. Yes, it will cost me a few bucks more but the payback is several hours a day of freed up time as a result.
2. Offer to share your knowledge of how they can start their own internet business. I have tons of PLR and MRR eBooks, audio and video on my hard drive. When my brother-in-law was laid off I sent him 2 books: one on resume writing and one on starting his own business. He was grateful and utilized the resume book immediately.
3. Make a list of sites you utilize to help you in your Internet business and share it with your unemployed friend.
4. Volunteer to be his or her mentor while they are getting started. It may surprise you to discover that some people haven't a clue that sites such as getafreelancer.com or elance.com even exist.
5. If you have the time and ability, help your unemployed friend to set up a blog and show them how to get started with Adsense or other such ppc programs. Even if they don't immediately earn any money, blogging can be therapeutic, helping them to cope with their situation.
6. Introduce them to the Warrior Forum. This is one of the best resources on the 'net.

Remember, the Bible says "it's more blessed to give than to receive" and tells us in numerous ways how to help the downtrodden. If you want a really big blessing start helping someone who is suffering. It's a great way to lift your own spirits!

I have been laid off from my job because of the downturn in the economy. Your Right! - It's pretty dire for some who are in their upper 50's with no hope of finding another job. I'm too old to hire (for most companies) and too young to retire. It's a tough situation that I've found my self in.

That's why I come here for hope and motavation!

So my advice, tell any one you know in that situation to visit this fourm! because on the Internet you are the boss limited only by the limits you place on to yourself!!!

I wish your friend the best, tell them to stay positive.

I blogged on this topic today... here:

    http://williecrawford.com/blog2/woul...-your-project/

The post was triggered partly because when a friend
asked me for help catching up on a mortgage, I ran a
sale for him. I was asked by a skeptical subscriber, why I
did't just give him the money... which was the real question
    answered in my blog post.

While it is popular for us to say "what recession" because
if you're diversified enough, and proactive enough, you
really don't feel the recession. Yet I do get emails from
dozens of struggling people every week.

The secret if you're selling products over the internet is
to find out exactly what your customers want, and then
give it to them. To find out what that is, you merely
    ask them.

One thing that many right here on Warriors want as an
example is relief from information overload. That's a
    simple solution to provide :-)

I've been worried about the older generation finding a job for a while... I wrote up a quick E-book about it a while ago... you can find a link to my job Hunting guide in my signature.

The biggest problem I see is that those that have not looked for a job for a while, may be in for a shock when they go to hand in a resume, only to find that hand delivered resumes aren't accepted - only online resumes.

So this guide just scratches the surface on how to find a job through online resources. It's by no means complete, but is a great start to those that are just needing a direction to be pointed in.

Good luck to all of those that are out of work -

        Matt
