The Zombie Apocalypse Is Coming...

... maybe. I don't know.

But I do know that a whole bunch of people are ranting and raving about the end of the world which is set to happen on the 21st of December of this year. It could be anything from zombies to solar flares and even world war 3, but one thing is for sure. This is an excellent time for promotions and marketing savvy.

As online marketers how are you planning to use this moment in time?

Do you have any awesome product ideas (end of the world t-shirts, apocalypse ebook guides)? Plan on creating a wicked email marketing campaign to count down until the aliens arrive or will you just be buried 50 feet under your home in a bunker?

Doomsday prep is actually a pretty big market. Dunno what I'd sell em' though. A Survival e-Guide/book might be good. But this kind of assumes you have some sort of expertise in that area. But then again, I know that there's a zombie survival guide that sell pretty well; though I have no idea how the author became an "authority" on the topic to begin with

Most of my markets are more sane than that so I just wrote PLR reports in the disaster niche. Might and might not write more. Haven't decided.

I think if only I believed in that crap, I would have done it. You could always "sell to the gullible" (that is, THEY believe it, so sell it to them), but I personally don't believe any of it so nope, no ideas.

"End of the World" t-shirts to make FUN of the whole idea? Hell yeah!

    Maybe a t-shirt that says:
"Hey, it's 22nd, and the world didn't end! BURN!"

    "21st December: Bring It On!"

"22nd, and you're STILL be reading this!"

    "Gah, we're all still here!""

Right off the top of my head

I am actually making a survival blog right now. Lol. I know a decent amount about it so I should be fine. Have been writing tons of articles. I am going to be selling a lot of amazon stuff from water purifiers to camping gear to survival movies. I will also have a few clickbank things on it.

Sounds like the guy in that movie "Armageddon" who took out a huge loan and partied it up because he didn't expect them to either make it back from the trip or save the world lol

As for providing products on the niche? Not really my cup of tea, although I have written a few blog articles for others on Fiverr. My favorite Uncle is really into emergency survival tips, so if anything it was nice communicating with him about it.

I'm a positive person so I don't really dig this "Zombie Apocalypse is coming" hype. I guess this isn't really my forte.

      Hi,

We'll be lucky to get to December without a financial apocalypse beforehand, although I've noticed some bigwigs recently 'kicking the can' in a manner which is likely to get them a call up for the Brazil squad.

As online marketers how are you planning to use this moment in time?

I'm going to become a bookmaker (Bodog, William Hill, etc). There's thousands of mugs who bet on crazy things, such as the end of the world.

When the Apocalypse doesn't arrive, you win.

If the Apocalypse does arrive, your all dead anyway.

Some people are saying not their cup of tea, don't believe it etc.

I think that the smartest and most well positioned marketers and business people will be using it.

And the other thing is that we don't necessarily need an "end of the world" product, but just a spin. Something to ride the wave and hop on the band wagon.

I don't know maybe a car salesman selling cars saying "Apparently you won't have to pay us anything after the 21st because we'll all be dead -but if we do make it our interest is as low as 3% for the first 12 months!!!"

Or like many people here who are in the MMO (make money online) niche, maybe something like "I'll show you how to make money online before the end of the world arrives, that way you'll have some time to blow all your money when Armageddon hits!!"

Or a produce seller "Stock up on eggs, cheese and meat today... when everyone else is starving you'll be eating eggs and bacon!"

Booze "Celebrate the end of the world with 3 bottles of Jack! And we'll throw in a a free survival torch!"

I ran a zombie 5k/obstacle course in June that inspired me to create ZARG (see sig). Really just something fun for zombie fans, but I am writing a survival guide to the zombie apocalypse with a different POV than most out there, so I plan on showcasing it and selling it from that site. Hopefully I'll have it done by October!

Tell me about it. I did a search a few weeks ago and I could not find jack squat on the ZA (didn't really expect to, though). I, for one, would be interested to buy some articles!

One of my niches is emergency prep/survivalist. Tons of affiliate opportunities and also opportunities for you to create your own products. Plus write books, do local workshops, speaking engagements, etc.

If you tie it in (humorously) with the Zombie Apocalypse (or 2012) theme, it's just another way to get your name out there.

But honestly, there are enough REAL disasters (hurricanes/ice storms/blizzards/blackouts/earthquakes) to keep your site(s) hopping.
