Recent experience with Guru.com and Elance.com

Hi,

I am about to oursource some tasks including research for a potential book and web design/development. I was wondering if you have had any recent experience (positive or negative) in dealing with these two sites. Also any advice on how best to utilize these sites to get the best return.

Thanks

When I outsource using a freelance site, I use Elance. I gave up on Guru a long time ago. Their system was so different at the time. I could literally get a hundred bids on a project and trying to vet all that was overwhelming. I used to buy and sell on it, and dumped it for Elance.

Freelancer.com - better for contract work
vworker.com - best for contract programming work
odesk.com - better for hourly work any type of work
    elance.com - better for
staff.com - full time work only
    guru.com - more US workers

I have used elance and odesk and have found out that for desing and web development I get more qualified contractors in elance; even though I get far more offers in oDesk for any type of work. As far as books or ebooks, I have found great qualified writers in oDesk and not so much in elance. Nevertheless, they both are top notch for outsourcing.

I like the navigation of Odesk, it seems easier to find exactly what I am looking for.
