When I looked at my own post (above) to see if the link works, it came up with a strange box about spamming. I'm not a spammer! I just looked up the guy who says he wants to buy my domain name -- and a blog post came up about how others are getting the exact same email (the link Iposted above is a link to that blog post about the possible scam). I just wanna see if other warriors are also getting the email offer from Birdwell -- and if it is a scam or not (I assume it IS some sort of scam).

Cheers.

Hi TW -

From my understanding, no this isn't a
scam. Some very clever marketer (or
domain speculator is probably better term)
is "tasting" domains - ie, tying them up
long enough to try to sell them and
letting them go if he can't.

I don't know if this is the same guy or
not, but I've heard of a guy who did
$8 million last year. His program finds
.net, .info, etc, owners of .com
versions that have expired and they're
automatically emailed that the .com
version of the domain is available.

Officially, no, he doesn't own the domain
- yet. Hard to explain "tasting" if you
don't know about it.

Pretty ingenious.

No -- this guy just says he wants to buy my domain name. When I searched his name, I found a blog post with several comments about how the same guy is soliciting others, wanting to buy their names too. Maybe it's a bot of some kind.
