Email subject title is not priority to increase open rate

Hey warriors,

Have you receive some of the email, no matter how good is the title, but you not going to open it?

Meanwhile, you might receive some others email, no matter how bad is the title, you will going to open it most of the time?

WHY?

I think should be from whom right? Is the person provided valuable information or just keep on spamming...?

So in order to increase the email open rate, I think the priority we should focus is building a good relationship and provide valuable information/ solution since the very first day they sign up as your subscribers.

Of cause write an attractive subject title is important, but the subscribers more concern is who are you, if they can recognize you as a valuable provider, they will always connect to you, because you have build up the relationship at the first place and they trust you.

What do you think? Do you have similar experience can share with me? Thanks!

EXCEPT that in order to build that relationship you have to
get them to open and read your email first.

    It's a catch-22.

It depends. You can build relationships with an audience even before they sign up.

I always start my email titles with the same line: Are You Dreaming?

It's just so people will automatically know it's from me.

If they signed up for the free book, all my messages at the moment go into more details about things in the book so it's in peoples best interests to open them.

I don't know my open rates, but I guess they are getting read because I always ask them to reply and some do.

I also have a negative selection - whose emails I will NOT open!

But you're right - some people's email I open regardless of the subject line. But I get so many emails, I can only look at maybe 1 percent of them without spending all day.

I need to unsubscribe from more lists!

          Indeed! Good point.

One thing I tend to do, especially with niche lists, is to put the name of the niche product or topic in the sender line and/or at the beginning of the subject line so they'll see it's what they had requested...

Hi, I think this is another good idea, you make your email easy to recognize, and have personal character, so they are more easy to connect with you!

The subject line is very important but your subscriber first have to like reading your emails otherwise as you say it doest mater how good it is they will just delete it

this is why its so important to make a good first impressions when someone joins your list and not just offer them some garbage for signing up

i have found using subject lines which spike curiosity work like gangbusters

i get my best open rates using this type of method

I'd suggest relevance is number 1 in email marketing. If you've been waiting for some new information, the title doesn't really matter (as long as it conveys the message).

For national campaigns that will hit millions of people, A/B split testing would definitely come in handy. Subject lines can serve as an opportunity to brand potential customers.

    Absolutely. Definitely right.

"Who it's from" ought to be everything - or at least "everything" that determines whether and how it's read. You need to make sure as part of your continuity process that "who it's from" means something to them, and that what it means is that they're expecting and welcoming your email, and looking forward to reading it.

I remind them in each email when the next one will be coming up, and give them a "teaser" for what will be in it.

Yes, with pick-up. It's kind of strange how strikingly similar these two fields are... but maybe it's just me. (I wonder what a girl has to say on this.)

    Anyway, good remarks.

Here's a quick 5 minute snip from a much longer webinar Erik Stafford and I recently hosted with guest expert copywriter, Craig Eubanks.

This clip is about studying how your emails appear in different inboxes.

    1) Note that some inboxes present subject line first, other present sender first

    2) Note that some inboxes provide a preview of the first few lines of your email

    3) Take the time to check out how the most popular email clients look. If you need to, open a throwaway account for Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and pop open Outlook & Thunderbird if you're normally a webmail-only email user.

Your relationship with your list subscribers is important
and you want to develop your reputation in the from
      field.

However, that doesn't mean that you can then just
      ignore creating enticing subject lines.

For optimal results, build your reputation, use a consistent
'from field' name and e-mail address and create subject
lines that get your e-mail opened. Then deliver within the
e-mail so that your next e-mails get opened too.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

This is the meat of your post, Steve.

The foundation of any and all businesses is relation. We build relation with our genuine interest to serve people and to make their lives better and easier. When we email our subscribers and let them know about our product and services, our subscribers may be thinking of two things. It's either we sell to earn or we sell to help. We prefer to be the latter and that's what we do.

    Agree..

Building a relationship with subscriber is the key to high open rates..

I mostly open emails from people that i know had provided value in the past..

But in some cases i also open emails with catchy subjects..

So having a good subject that grabs the attention of the viewer is also critical.

    Cheers,

I think the email subject title is very important to get people curious and to make them want to open your email. If the email subject title sounds boring and unconvincing, I don't expect people to be excited to read it
