Marketing ideas for genealogical research business

Hey warriors,

I want to start a genealogical research business, but i need some ideas on how to find my clients. I'm not residing in the US, so my main focus will be to help americans finding their danish ancestors (since i'm a dane ).

I think my main audience would be older americans people, who have this history about their grandfather from denmark. But, how do i find these people? I was also thinking about offline marketing, but it's quite confusing when you are not living in america... Also, i don't know if i should market myself on genealogical websites, since the competition is very high there, and i don't even know if my target audience visit these websites.

I hope you guys have some good ideas

Get a good interviewer/biography writer and do live biographies along with statistical info. The biographies would give generations to come a look at ancestors from their own point of view - personal stuff that a future family member can cherish having. Then you get someone in line that can retouch old photos - put together a book - three ring binder is sufficient and will let people add more stuff they will ask you to research or more interviews later. Laminate the pages - and sell it as a pkg.

    Target markets:
Mormons: they are extremely interested in family heritage.
Senior centers: Grandparents - will want to leave something of themselves to their progeny.
Homemaking magazines or sites: Soccer mom territory. Soccer moms are big on "projects".
School PTA meetings. For the kids, of course.
Town museums and city halls (bound books to be sold at fairs etc) Make community projects where you gather colorful info about and from families who figured prominently in the community's history.

Just a few ideas for you. I used to write living biographies.
