Without developing the site you won't get a good amount. Make it attractive, you will have customers.

Nothing.Your site has no value until you're able to get content onto it, drive traffic to it, monetize the site and bring in revenue, etc.

To be more specific your site has no value because it isn't a very good Exact domain name search.

Google adwords tool shows <10 people search Weight Loss Run per month..I suspect you were hoping for more.

Good exact domain names have a lot of value...Some ok ones can still be found, but for the most part the content you put on there will determine the traffic.

In my opinion domain names are meaningless. They are a means to an end. you need a domain to make a website, that is all they are good for.

A perfect example is the site you are on now. The domain name, to me anyway, would make me think of a military,gaming,or history site, not a internet marketing site.

Don't get all giddy over a name, build a quality site, make some money and then get all giddy

The domain has no value other than the $10 or so you paid for it.

There is nothing special about that name. I could go register weightlossjog.com, weightlosswalk.com, weightlossjump.com or a host of other similar names. Why would I pay more for yours? They all have the same value right now. $10.

I see that you are doing one of the lesser traveled IM strategies.

Although I don't do domain flipping myself, I have to say that I have been contacted for some of my domains, as well as to be sold domains to.

Just keep in mind that holding this domain will not make you money, but finding the right buyer will! I have seen domains selling for ~$200 a piece. But, I have also read articles about some selling for MUCH higher than that!

Here are some stats. According to my Google Keyword Tool, the stats for the keyword "weight loss run" are:

Competition: Low
Global monthly searches: 33,100
Local monthly searches: 18,100
CPC: $x.xx (not sure if I am allowed to publicly display this value)

This is a great keyword for SEO purposes. If you get this site ranked #1 in Google, AdSense could be paying you some money every month on autopilot.

Or you could find a buyer and sell it for some quick cash.

And you made the most basic mistake with the keywords tool, selecting broad rather than exact. It's less than 10.

The domain isn't worth more than the registration fee, sorry. But If you developed it, you could potentially get more for it.

$12 total for all domains in my account and $8 i think monthly for the same thing but I get 80% of original AD revenue for $12 plan and 60% for $8 one...I could park them free and still get money using sedo,etc. but just to save some time and since i ordered a lot of domains lately

Well I just thanked the original poster of this thread for reminding me that as well as my writing ebooks and sales copy I am collecting domain names for future profit.

Now estibot.com gives valuations for domain names and although it may be best to just use it to give you a possible value if you find the right buyer just selling two of my many domain names has the possibility of $1000 which is okay by me (as I have quite a few).

I do do a lot of research before buying domain names of course not just for my websites but as future ones to be sold.

You guys are right, they are less for Exact Match searches. And exact match searches are great for the SEO purposes. Thanks for clarifying this for me.

This domain is not worth anything for SEO purposes it looks like, but that does not mean a buyer will not buy this domain! Buyers may buy it for other reasons as well.

Is this a parked domain? I thought by the name you were selling a product or offering free information of some sort. I personally wouldn't buy it. If i had to put a value on it without any marketing or backlinks or seo action... i would say $30.

Hello again, I just wanted to give you some additional information about domain flipping.

I own several websites in a niche, and from time to time, I get emails from sellers from within the niche. I just received yet another one of these emails, and here is the paraphrased version of it:


"Hello Sir:

We have a domain for sale which you may be interested in purchasing: www.[theirdomainname].com. This domain is closely related to your own domain name, and we wanted to let you know about it in case you would be interested in boosting your website's visibility.

We are asking for only a low, low price of $500 for this valuable domain..."

The email went on for a bit explaining the value and relevance of their domain. Other people are doing this kind of business every single day, so don't let anyone put you down for trying. In my humble opinion, it is always better to try things out on your own rather than let people put you down before you even get started.

If I had listened to other peoples' advice, I would have never finished college, gotten my degree, and started my own business.

Chin up, and do your own experimenting. And of course, keep us updated about your successes! (Plural, because I believe that you will be successful many times over!).

As said before, its not necessarily the domain that always makes you the money, more often it is the niche and the site, because at the end of the day you can rank any keyword for any domain name, its just better for marketing purposes, therefore other things will often come first such as domain age, PR, ranking, content etc.
