Easiest Business Idea Ever?

I recently came across a super-easy business that I thought I would mention here incase it gives any fellow Warriors some ideas.

The business was essentially a lady whose target market is people who are unhappy/unfulfilled with their current career.

For $100 she will send you a questionnaire to fill in, and when she receives it back she will then provide you with some suggestions for things you might prefer doing instead!

What's that - about an hours work at most? Probably less?

Now, of course I don't know how much this business is making, but obviously enough to pay for a stand at a careers fair recently.

So here's the question - what sort of "survey" could you offer to a hungry market for a price?

Possibilities:

Target market - owners of badly behaved dogs. Business - specific techniques for training your dog based on breed, size, behavioural problems etc.

Target market - potential boat owners. Business - based on finances and goals, provide advice on the ideal boat for them, together with details of local boat yards and information on common faults with those models so they know what to look out for when buying. Maybe even a JV with a local boatyard where you get a commission on any boat sold.

Target market - insomniacs. Business - provide specific tips and advice on getting a proper nights sleep based on their feedback.

And so on.

I think this works so well because the answers are "tailor-made" for someone, giving it a higher perceived value, than just a simple guide or report on the same topic.

Any other ideas come to mind for this one?

All the best,
Richard

    Couple of ideas:

Target market - home business people
Topic - How to create brochures for businesses or custom made printing on T-shirts, mugs etc

    Target market - Failed Students
Topic - How to plan ahead and pass the exam in second attempt.

Your basic idea is like business consulting.

Just to point out - that $100 for around an hour's work or less is
      potentially a little misleading...

One thing people usually forget to consider including in making that $100
is the time, investment and skills it takes to be able to get that
$100 client in the first place
      ...

Now, of course I don't know how much this business is making, but obviously enough to pay for a stand at a careers fair recently.
What if it was her first attempt at this?...
In which case she's possibly not yet profitable.

What if she gets just one client during 8 hours of running the stall?...
Suddenly that $100 for an hour is $100 for 9.

Not at all pouring scorn on the idea - it's entirely feasible and great to
point out (especially the 'tailor-made' aspect: there's a lot to be made
from that). Just a reminder to be aware of all the factors that add up to
making a business idea effective and profitable (or not).

Things that look easy on the surface sometimes have a lot more going on underneath.

      Best,
      Adam
