4 questions on the list and great content - StumbleUpon

1. I have read a lot about not trying to sell too early in your messages. The thing is, in my niche, I feel like it would add more value to my subscribers. For example, if I talk about apples and know of a great apple peeler, what is the hurt in telling them about it? I of course, know from experience that it is the best apple peeler, and that is why I want them to know about it.

2. Stumbleupon - could I sometimes send them emails with a great page I found on stumbleupon? I'm torn between the idea of giving them something fresh and interesting to read, and not wanting to send them to other peoples websites.

3. How many messages do you create in advance? Do I have maybe 30 and then once they have gone through those, they would just get any messages I send to the group on a monthly basis? Or if I have something great to say?

4. I was planning on just doing emails with no templates. I feel like they just cover up my content and I don't plan on an actual newsletter. Is this the wrong approach?

      Hi Madelyndon,

While it is wise to follow proven methods and good advice, imo you also need to trust your instincts, and inject your marketing with your own unique personality. So, in that regard, only you can decide what is best for your customers, and what will work for you.

The not-selling-early thing is mostly about not being pushy, putting your subscribers needs before your own, and building some sort of relationship/rapport with them (or else why would they listen to you?)

So long as you are doing that, you should be ok.

Great advice! I had actually lost this thread and never had a chance to read your response. Glad I found it! Thanks - I'm just going to trust myself and do what feels right.

    I agree with MP80...

There is not a single method to talk with your list.

    Every list is different.
    Every niche is different.
    Every entrepreneur is different.

    What is best?
Going to bed late at night and wake up late, or going to bed early at night and wake up early?

It depends on the person, if you know what I mean lol

So in this case you gotta find your way.

10,20,30 or even 60 emails in advance as follow ups are a good idea.
But keep in mind that if the niche changes, those emails will get old and useless after a while.

So if your niche keeps changing all the time, you can just send them like 10 follow up emails with generic topics that will never change, and then broadcast your list as often as you want, or as often as your list is the most responsive.

You probably will have more success by emailing them early in the morning, but if you don't see responses, try different times of the day.

And it's ok to send them to other people's stuff, but not too often!

You can even curate content in your site. Which means, you mention cool content or stuff you found and link to the cool stuff

As to your last question, I agree. I think templates just distract from the content, unless they are very simple and clean. Stick to relevant and quality content, and you will have people reading and clicking on your links.
