Membership site...If I build it... Will they come???

I am really keen to start a membership site.

I realize that it will have to revolve around a really great niche...

But my general question about membership sites is are people really willing to pay for content??

There seems to be an endless amount of 'free' (although arguably not all of it is of good quality) content online.

Obviously setting myself apart - proving I have excellent, relevant, high quality content will entice people to pay monthly.

But will people really pay?

I would love to hear from any current membership site owners.

    Of course people will pay- if not, how do you explain all the existing membership sites?

    If people wouldn't pay for content, why do bookstores exist?

      As with any info product, if you are organizing all the info for them -- and saving them time and frustration -- they will pay. Of course, this isn't Field Of Dreams, and they won't just come -- you have to market the site and bring it traffic.

        Membership sites are huge money makers, you need to
        have a really, really, really good product and something
        that will keep them coming back.

        When you build the site up to a good level you will be
        able to sell the site for huge $$$.$$

          You really need to do your research and look for a niche that indicates people will pay for the information you provide.

          If you do this regularly they will most likely pay your membership fee. There are many other facets of a membership site you need to look at. Have you done so?
