If you don't know SEO then you should not buy any established site. Your money will be thrown away gradually without your knowledge. The best thing to do is to learn the basics. English is not a problem since there are lots of writers who can fill that void for you.
Former owner can help you but until when?

Knowledge is the most powerful tool in IM so you better study and learn the basics at this early stage. The more you are running after the money, the more you are losing of you rely on spending here and there......

Building backlinks is easier than understand what SEO is....

        Create a site
Comments in other people blogs with your link
Posts in forums that allow signature with your link
Have someone write an article and submit it to directories with your link
Have someone write press release and submit it yo PR sites
        Posts in social bookmarks
Submit your site to RSS feeds

Those are part of SEO. Who says it's difficult? You don't have to find or do a research on "what is SEO".. Just follow the above procedure and you are already doing it....Understanding what is SEO and not doing it doesn't help anyway....

If you to make any quick sale then buy a established site and hire a SEO expert to help you. If you want to earn money through adsense or any other method, then it is good to learn from scratch by working on new site.

Buying an established website is smart if the owners can give you a prospectus of expected profits and the domain is of decent age and has decent traffic (you can figure that out of your own pretty easily). But just purchasing domain names that have been purchased and not developed is downright silly.

I 100% agrre with the above! It is the easy boption to buy a ready made site which earns, however, if you build one from scratch and learn SEO etc, you will then have the required skills to rinse and repeat! all on your own! Learning is power!

Start from scratch. Make mistakes. Learn the ropes. Juice yourself in.

How do you even know if an established site listed for sale is even worth buying if you haven't gone through the learning process of building and marketing one yourself/

  • I would disagree, buy an established website/domain that has authority already. Build your website on there (obviously keeping the old URL's etc) and you will have a strong foundation to carry out your SEO

Who says you are going to lose money in creating new site?
You want an established site even though you don't know how to run it? You know the main reason why people fail? - they want to earn without learning....

Many sites being sold at Flippa for example have fake statistics so once you got any of this, game over....

You can't find a good earning site under $1000. But you can start creating site for $20, pay articles for $100, pay someone to build links for $100 and see your site climbing on top of Google within 2 to 4 months while saving more than $700.... If that's too difficult for you then I have no more to say... You want to bet your money in gambling you could never win...

I, pretty much, agree with Adie. If you don't know how to run a start-up site, then it makes little sense to purchase one. Unless, of course, you plan to outsource 100% of the maintenance.

Even outsourcing all the work, you'll still have to have some knowledge in order to know if the people you are hiring are doing what is needed.

Overall, without any knowledge, I think that buying a site is just going to be setting money on fire.

That is a good question. The short answer IMO is that if you can't launch a profitable website yourself, you will not be able to maintain a purchased website profitable either.

The biggest reason is probably that you simply don't know what to look for when buying a website if you have no experience.

Simple tip to ask a seller when buying a website: If the website claims to have revenue, how much did it cost to get that revenue/traffic? Or stated differently: What is the actual ROI?

There are too many ways in making money online and non is easy. You have to invest time in learning. There is no magic and there is no such thing as "luck". You have to work for it... people who want to earn money quick and easy and spending here and there are always ended-up broke. So start working and forget about :making money fast.... How can you become sick when you haven't tried anything yet?

I would listen to this guy. He knows what he's talking about. Having know experience in SEO, marketing, etc is a guaranteed way to get duped when trying to buy an established site because you won't know what you're doing and you'll be taken advantage of

    Well it honestly all depends...
Older domain names can have more authority and less likely chances of getting sandboxed than brand new sites. Although you want to make sure that you are indeed buying a well established website (especially since you will be spending more money on the site). Check to make sure the website your are buying is not a old spam site or what not, because then you might as well buy a new domain!

You have to be very careful buying so called "established" websites. People do all kind of funny business to inflate traffic and earnings.

I was looking into purchasing a service website a few months ago. After extensive research to verify the revenue, I found out that the seller had a group of 15 or so people who would make paypal payments to his company account. He would simply withdraw the cash and give it back to them to make more "purchases" from his company. This made it look as if he had tremendous activity.

i just rather build my own sites.

it means even buying a website they can also scammers.i join many ptc sites before and invested money even in my hyip.they scammed me tremendously i loss 500 dollars to them.quite small but in my country it worth 20,000.so i said to my self i want to build and make profit on my own.how much will i need for starting a website and how long will i wait to have a decent income.actually 100 a day will be so much decent income for me.actually the cost vs. profit and maintenance is will be the burden for me.

My advice would be to do a bit of research before u ventured out buying sites..at least understand the nuances of website buying...Once u buy website u can side by side start learning abt websites .deisgn ...html..link building n stuff like that .it's not a rocket science ..everyone around here is not a born techie..most of us come from non it background & we have learned our way thru...
It will be easier & quicker for u to get started if u buy a right kind of website for things that u intend to do..rather than start from scratch ..take month to learn & then build site...
With site at ur hand u can quickly learn & get started...

    All the best!

Even if you buy an established website, how will you continue to make it profitable if you have no marketing skills? Do yourself a favor and start from scratch. If advertising is necessary, do advertising and generate leads into your autoresponder. Then market to them via your autoresponder.

I dont know how you expect to keep a website earning profit if you do not know good English or SEO. If you buy a website in your own language to focus on a national bases it could work. However, SEO is a key essential tool for anyone who works with a website and well even though SEO is not hard to learn, it is very time consuming. Unless you are buying a top level website with a top level domain name you would still have to keep up with SEO in order to insure that your website does not loose in ranking or keywords. I think the best suggestion i have is to start a free wordpess blog, learn a little about SEO, experiment with web marketing and advertising and practice your writing skills through blogging. Maybe when you feel you have either learnt enough, or feel confident enough to start, or buy a website then go for it. The key to life is knowledge, you can only gain knowledge through experience and well knowledge is the key to success.
