I was on google's search page for a specific keyword and was actually ranked number 1 of roughly 1k competition. This is an article on eza. When I search now it is not even in the first 3 pages and yet it is still on eza.

Any ideas on what happened?

Maybe your article has been published on a site that Google sees as better value for the visitor than yours.
If it was just the article that was Nº1 and not your web site - that is even more likely to be the case.
As a case in point, I have articles that rank Nº1 for - red and yellow spotted paint - and - uppitytownmarketers - and even those go missing when somebody posts my articles on their web sites. It doesn't take much to get them back.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.

Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
