I own a niche site within the medical community. It's a social network...

Whats the best way, in your opinion, to build traffic?

Yes, we blog daily already... We also do interview 1x a week...

Thinking content curation next.....

Dear best way to build traffic is to work onsite and off site at the same time. For this purpose you can use directory submission , yahoo answers , blog commenting and unique articles also internal and external linking.

Doing interviews is one of the best ways to produce high quality content, especially when you are interviewing with experts.

I would transcribe the interviews and post them on document sharing sites like Scribd.com, Docstoc and other document sharing websites.

Then I would post excerpts of the interviews on YouTube and other video hosting websites.

You can also convert the interviews into podcasts to drive traffic and build your list.

These are a few ways to drive targetted traffic.

Thanks your reviewer ... I will look into the podcast idea...
What's your experience with scribd? Is it worth the 20-50 dollars per interview to have transcribed? Is there a easy plugin type of thing for transcription?

Johan: we already rank #1 for our keywords....

What's the best way to generate internal and stimulating talk?

I get one hour interviews transcribed at rates between $10-$15 on Fiverr.com. What I usually do is to post the interview content first on the website, then after a few days post them on document sharing websites. You can also post the excerpts on YouTube as soon as the interview files are available.

Take a look at www.mixergy.com and it is a great model to emulate if the interview model interests you.

If it's an audio interview, just use a Powerpoint slide (I usually use the picture of the expert I am interviewing) and convert it into a video.

Get involved with relevant communitys whether that is a Facebook page or a forum that is dedicated to the medical world.

Also don't rule out any form of paid traffic, you will be able to target only people in the medical industry through Facebook ads and such.

I might use social media, forums, Q&A sites and some others. Also I should make sure that my onpage and content quality is okay.

Well, you should use the same things that other websites do, ask your users to invite their friends also.

Since it's a social network what you have, observe how Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. advertise themselves.

You will probably be effective by using social networks lol

I think you should focus most of your energy on YouTube and Facebook.

Google now gives the most importance to the Facebook shares that your content gets, and also they rank video very well
