Google IS! Watching YOU!

I've read many threads throughout the years here
about Google and how much they know.

There is always two sides, those that believe that
all men are basically good, and those that believe that all men
are basically evil.

I'm on the evil side, here is an article that proves the point again...

This is a good article. However, I could care less about Google. I don't try to optimize for Google when I post blogs.

This post just proves what I have been reading all along. Google follows people. If you can post something that people will love, Google can tell this. It shows up in their sitepage follow too.

If you write for people, then Google will follow. I have written countelss numbers of blog posts that have made it to the first page without one single backlink.

-One other question: Do you think that this interferes with our privacy? Google knowing so much about everything we do and look at? I do. Google needs to butt out!

Absolutley I think it infringes on my privacy.

I also have thought for a longtime that all of the free stuff
Google gives out is tracking everything I do and infringing.

Chrome, the Google tool bar, Gmail, adwords account, adsense account,
andon and on. But a lot of people on this forum think I'm nuts.

George Orwell just had the year wrong :-)

Google just made a car that drives itself, so we better get used to them lol...

I'd say that's a pretty good contribution to society.

That technology could eventually change the world.

So... I'm hoping they do more things like that.

But I don't like how they collect information.

      Jason,

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not saying Google is all bad,
      I use it everyday.

But don't forget they are a FOR PROFIT corporation.

I'm not so sure their motivations are to change the world and
contribute to society and to be remebered as a great benifactor.

I doubt these guys are 'evil' but I do think that they are using any type of advantage they can get.

More of a mind frame that will get you more money.

Another reason not to use Google. Who wants an email from a year ago popping in search results? This will make me think twice about corresponding with anyone using Gmail.

Not me...I hear that they also use this information in correspondence with homeland security to check up on people.

This is a violation of our rights!

"Google is aware that the new tool could raise privacy concerns..." You think Google?!!!

They want to be able to alert me about the traffic... Cmon!

On the surface unless there's something I'm missing this is a blatant violation of basic privacy rights. Very much worth watching.

Not really. Google hasn't killed anyone yet and they haven't turned corpses into animated zombies. Buy hey, the millennium is still young.......

  • You know, I read the article and it's easy to immediately feel like your privacy is in jeopardy. *But then I take a step back and look at all the other daily invasions of privacy I experience from surveillance cameras everywhere to all of the data and statistics banks, governments, and even employers compile on us.*

Yeah, you can turn the service off, but Google is still looking at what you are doing and mining that information. To me it's just another reminder that things will only continue this way and I need to be conscious of everything I do. Right or wrong, It's another part of modern life.

Just last week Google notified me that someone in Belgrade, Serbia was trying to hack my personal account. They detected a login attempt from an unusual IP address and immediately sent an alert. By knowing my habits, they saved me from being hacked and seriously screwed. I can't complain.

It's the reality of using any company's services. Hopefully they don't abuse it, and hopefully it only benefits us as Internet marketers. I will try to focus on the good aspects, but keep in mind they are always watching.

  • The problem is, people still use it and I mean a lot of people do. Some are aware and some are not. Although Google has been very useful at times, I just don't like the way they do invade into our privacy. That's really not appropriate.
