What are the Best Sales Tips??

I'm curious as to what you'd recommend as the best tips/secrets you've ever learned/received regarding sales and influence.

How do you apply these tips/techniques in your own life and in business?

Love to hear your thoughts and I appreciate your input. Books/movies that you recommend are also very welcome

    - Provide solutions to your client's problems
    - Focus on providing value rather than the commissions (people hate it when you sell to them) - Do not hard sell
    - Underpromise but overdeliver
    - Don't lie to your customers; you will suffer the consequences later on

Do that and you will succeed

    Book recommendations:
    - Anything You Want by Derek Sivers
    - How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Great post Louie all your points I find to be valid however the one that I really resonate with is the first point "Provide solutions to your client's problems". This is crucial as if you try to provide solutions that are tailored only to yourself with your own glasses on then you're not going to succeed. You need to look at what your potential clients need and how you're going to go about offering such a solution. This takes much time and effort but it's well worth it IMO.

I just posted this to another thread.

I'd like to bring 2 videos to everybody's attention

    Quote from above
"What is the most unusual thing you've ever sold?"
    "Christmas trees in February."

And this (one of my all time favorites)

    • Research your market thoroughly.
    • Get out a list of problems that they are facing and want solutions for.
    • Think like your potential customers.
    • Compile your solutions into a product (ebook, video course, etc).
    • Make sure your product is of very high quality, so they'll come back for more.

These are the basics for product creation and making sales.

Best sales tip I could say is find a solution to your customer's needs... by building value and trust.

Look up Joe Girard. I had his training when I first started in the financial industry and it changed my life. I booked MILLIONS of dollars in commissions from his training.

Another is Jordan Belfort. The man who handed me my first "Pitch" many years ago!

This man is a freakin LEGEND! He knows how to close deals better than anyone I've ever seen in my life.

Yes he went to jail. Yes his firm got shut down. But that was because of other stuff. Not his sales training.

Wolf Of Wall Street. But it has much more to do with Coke and hookers than it does with sales.

I threw out my old Stratton pitch book years ago but he does have a home study course. It's expensive (I think 2 grand) but very worth it if you're going to be selling for a living. It's the best sales training money can buy.

    Books you need to read:

-Ultimate Sales Machine, by Chet Holmes
-Influence (The Psychology of Persuasion) by Robert B. Cialdini
-The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding by Laura Ries

Get those and they will cover literally EVERYTHING you need to know about sales and marketing.
