My sites are suspended!

My websites are suspended! I use a pretty cheap web host and they suspended all my sites. All I run on it are wordpress sites. Has this happened to anyone? This happened once before and they said my site was using too much CPU. Then I got them to reactivate it and it was good for a few months. NOw I wake up this morning to see it suspended again. Any solutions?

Contact support and ask to access your cpanel. take back-up files and forget about the host. Go with hostgator, bluehost, or lovinghosting...

I experienced the same with x10hosting before..

Is that sarcasm? Hostgator shut my sites down for getting too much traffic. I still use them for my clients sites who only get a trickle of traffic.

Then you need to pay for the service that your sites require. What's sarcastic about telling someone who is getting shut down from an unknown cheap host to move to a better host and it is you ... not he ... that had too much traffic and my response was to him.

I didn't know if you were serious when you said hostgator. After all you could of been joking as in my opinion they are not a reliable host - they are a better host, but they will shut you down without warning just as fast as he just got shut down. If they actually warned you and then gave you the opportunity to upgrade that would be different, but they don't. They shut you down and thats that; you have to take your business elsewhere.

Thats the problem with so called "unlimited" hosting - it is false advertising. It is limited, but they try to hide the fact.

Just my opinion from person experience dealing with 5 different hosting companies.

^This is your problem. I'm pretty sure they are claiming to give you "everything" for nothing pretty much right?

On a side note, depending on how much traffic you're getting, plugins etc..WP can be database intensive since it relies on SQL. Look into caching, using a CDN such as CloudFlare and reducing the plugins.

I am currently using cloudflare. My site has over 800 reviews on it and for every review there is a picture. I'm getting about 200hits/day on average. Is there a shared host I can use or do I have to go with VPN?

Welcome to Shared Hosting... Unlimited bandwith does not mean you can get 10000 visitors a day for $3 a month.

WP is a resources HOG.. Either upgrade to VPS or try one of those Cache plugins

Move to another shared web host that doesn't jam pack their servers and most likely you'll be fine. You could also move to a smaller managed VPS.

does your cheap service offer an upgrade, for more bandwidth so you can handle more traffic?
    taken from Cloudfare
    "We never charge for bandwidth
CloudFlare will never bill you for bandwidth usage. We believe if your site suddenly gets popular or suffers an attack, you shouldn't have to dread your bandwidth bill."

I dont see an upgrade option for bandwidth unless it is with the business options and that is 200 bucks a month.. I do agree if you are getting more traffic than your service provider can handle time to shop around..

It looks like the site in the signature goes back to webhostingpad.

If they suspended it, so will HG, HM & FatCow. HM & FC are not better options. FC is an EIG brand, which will do the same. HM is also known for poor performance & overloading servers.

My advice: Step up your hosting requirements to something other than a "budget" provider that promises you everything under the sun.

Actually, all three of those companies (HostGator, HostMonster, FatCow) are now owned by EIG

yeah I would say to get rid of your host - might be a pain the butt but it will save you lots of time in the long run. I use Hostgator shared, Hostnine Reseller and Hostmonster shared and have never had ANY issues with any of them

Hostgator is being recommended here, but even with them if you exceed the limits, they will suspend your account without warning.

    • If you truly do have multiple sites I can point you to a great hosting company. No aff link, I use them myself. I get 25 sites hosted for a total of $24.99 a month with Unix shell access and all the usual goodies. (Though if you must have cPanel you won't get it here.) Never been charged extra for bandwidth and I've got blogs, ecommerce sites, etc.

Nope. You actually have to know how to use utilities like sftp, ssh, etc. without a GUI. None of this girly panel stuff. You get shell access.

Being a former Unix admin myself, I love being able to talk to someone in the machine room for help when I call.

Also make sure that your Wordpress installations as well as all your plugins and themes are always updated. If you run your Wordpress websites on an old WP version, there is a risk of having it hacked and this could cause your hosting account to be suspended.

The solution is to get a better web host. Like come on if you have your service suspended you must be getting good traffic and earning money. In that case i am sure you can get a better host. Normally if your host is suspending you then its a sign that you need to upgrade your account.

It seems like we should be at IP6 easily being able to get our own static IPs and hosting from home at this point. That way if anything goes wrong it's your own damn fault and you can make sure you have dedicated hardware just for your sites.

So what happens when the power goes out from the car that hit a pole down the street, or the idiot 2 doors down is digging in his yard and hits a line?

IPV6 has nothing to do with it either.. The problems with hosting from home are cost & reliability.

That can happen to any host provider and it has. netriver was down just a week ago and they have HUGE corporate clients.

You're right, it can however, hosting from your house is more prone to problems. If it was that easy, there would be no web hosts or datacenters in business.

I'm sure you are also right. BUT there would be a hell of a lot more people that would try it if there were more static IPs available. This would dramatically keep costs down as more small timers would figure it out (that is of course if the government doesn't get its paws on it and regulate it to death).

There are a lot of reason why your website is suspended, could be your account has expired, you might have violated the terms of use. But if you think it's none of the obvious reason you might want to consider changing hosts.
