I have my new blog on Googles Blogger, but have read that it's better to use something like wordpress since google could take down the blog if they wanted to. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

To be completely honest, there's no such thing as "100%" uptime, nowhere.

Excluded from "uptime claim" is usually upgrades and such. Servers do have problems, and sometimes result in downtime. There are also network variables to factor in here.

Any general shared hosting should suffice for your blog.

Yes, it's definitely best to have your blog set up on your own hosting account so you have full control.

Hosting is cheap, you can get hosting from places like hostgator for just a few dollars per month. Wordpress can be installed with just a few clicks, and there's plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube if you get stuck.

You can just copy and paste your posts that are on Googles Blogger straight to your new hosted Wordpress site.

Simply move your google blogs to wordpress if you feel threatened that your content might get removed completely. It's always better to be safe then sorry.

Go look for the hostgator penny coupon. You can get your first month for one cent. I have had nothing but good experiences with Hostgator.
