I am doing everything I can possibly do on Wordpress now. I tried Joomla and just didn't like it. I am even changing over my static HTML websites to Wordpress. It is very search engine friendly, it is easy to use, and it is so easy to change the design of it. I can't say enough good things about it. So I would recommend that you build everything you can with Wordpress.

I'm using Wordpress almost exclusively now, and resurrecting some old "directory generator" domains to Wordpress Ebay and Amazon affiliate sites. google loves wordpress especially if you use the right SEO plugins. If I were stuck on a desert island, i would want a computer, internet access and Wordpress.

I used to build custom made CMS driven sites , now I just use WordPress. The basic platform is extremely reliable and a good coder can turn it into almost anything you wan't it to be.

Combine that with the extensive plugins and you have an incredibly easy to implement and customise platform that's coded nicely for SEO almost out of the box.

Hard to beat until you have very indepth requirements.

Once upon a time, I would have. Now, however, I'd rather not - nothing personal. You can find them using google, and searching for wordpress mu installs with the wp signup url present. If you find a good one I'd keep it to yourself - some people don't understand about 'take it easy' and blast them to death, at which point they go belly up or suspend new signups. About one in 4 is useable, in my experience.

If the hosts are deleting your blogs fast, that suggests they realize you're splogging them. Which means your content isn't good enough. Or unique enough, anyway.

Do any of you know of a good Directory Theme to use? I have downloaded and uploaded into my theme folder one called 'incircle' but it is minus a template so it won't activate.

If you have the theme and can send me a copy that would be great or alternatively if you know of another theme that would be suitable for a Website Directory I would really appreciate knowing about it

I have a domain that had a Directory loaded but a file or files stop functioning so nobody was able to add a listing to the directory. I couldn't afford the $500 I was quoted to have it repaired so I transferred the site to being a wordpress site because I had found the 'incircle' theme I thought I could use to keep it going as a website Directory but until I can get a theme to work the domain is now just an ordinary blog

Look forward to some positive response to this request

I build websites for a living (have done for 10 years) and in the last 4 years ... 9 out of every 10 sites I've rolled out for clients have been built on Wordpress. Sites small and large ranging from $3000 to $45,000.

If you ask me ... it's not whether you should use WP. It's whether there's a good enough reason not to!

    - It's powerful out of the box
    - Has a thriving community of designer and developers that put out loads of amazing free content
    - Can be hacked/customized to do whatever
    - Can get loads of premium paid plugins
    - In use by mom-n-pops and Fortune 500s alike

I would like to be able to take advantage of all that wordpress offers and give it to this site but I'm a little concerned that it may not be as profitable with a different layout.

I would like your opinions on what theme you think might work as well as the template that is there at the moment.

I'm with everyone on WordPress, it's great! Versatile, easy to use, the search engines love it, themes and plugins almost beyond number and more being developed everyday. Sure, it can't do everything but what it can do it does fantastic and the support really makes the difference. With the immense number of users, there is almost nothing that hasn't been run into or tackled at some point.

I have a couple of HTML sites that I run, sales sites but only because of the scripts that I use. If I could figure out how to integrate the scripts to WP, they'd be WP too.

I use wordpress all the time. However you will hear some people bad mouth wordpress and tell you to use joomla instead. They will say that joomla generates a better looking website.

    That's not true!

My advice: Wordpress is the way to go. Joomla is hard to use and Wordpress is as easy as it gets. And let me show you some websites powered by wordpress:

    Voice Software
    Stress Relief

Now wordpress is really something, isn't it?

      EXACTLY!
This is something I've never understood. Here's the truth:

      Wordpress
      Drupal
      Joomla

You can make any of them LOOK exactly as you want!

The idea that one is someone how unable to LOOK like you want is ridiculous. The difference is what it is capable of, not how it looks.

I'm going to buck the trend here...

I use Drupal for my sites for a very simple reason - scalability. When I move into a niche I have a long term strategy that involves adding functionality by turning on pre-built mechanisms and pieces that Wordpress just doesn't do/have. I have my own 100% optimised build of drupal that has taken me to the front page of most google locations for a keyword with over 100k searches per month.

I have had people come to me and ask me for sites to be built in wordpress - usually because they have tried to build it already and failed (yes I'm a go to guy) and I knock out the complex functionality they need for their niche sites in hours not days/weeks.

Wordpress is phenominal as a start point but for true scalability it does not cut the mustard.

If you want a really basic example go look at http://www.htcrom.com

Are you on Twitter? I'm addicted to Twitter and Social Media - vBulletin Services
I've been tinkering around with IPBSetup, but still love vBulletin. Which is the best, vBulletin or IP.Board?
