How do you decide on what to go with???

OK... let me just say I totally believe that there is a legitimate way to make money online. I've been going through some intensive training courses and learning a great deal over the last month. I actually am loving it! I've spent the last two hours reading many threads here as well to learn from many of you.

However, the more I learn, the more I feel I don't know where to go. There are so many options out there on training and learning that it's hard to narrow down what works and what doesn't.

How do you decide? How do you narrow down everything that is out there to come up with a clean simple plan that actually works?

I don't want to keep trying the newest, latest and shiniest. I want to settle in and work a plan from start to finish that actually works. Although making the "big bucks" would be great, the more extreme the promises of riches, the more I'm hesitant.

My dream and plan keeps evolving each time I learn something new. So much so that it seems unreachable and a bit overwhelming.

Can anyone provide me with some counsel or advice on how to settle in on a plan of action? What has worked for you?

Thanks so much! I appreciate your time.

Sit for a hour and devise a plan. Stick with the plan. Stop buying courses unless they directly benefit your plan. Take action everyday. Its ok to keep learning but you need to set up a goal and keep focus on achieving your daily requirements. Marketing is simplified to this formula.

    Traffic + Conversions = Sales

Set up your conversion website and then drive traffic. Focus on doing those two things and also work on personal development. You most likely have a lack of belief in yourself. I say that because you are constantly searching and not taking massive action towards your goals.

Re: lack of belief. In this area, you are correct. It's a brand new area of my life. But I'm working on that by asking questions, studying and building my knowledge base.

I love the formula. It's the traffic part that I am actively studying right now so I can understand it better. These posts have helped me to narrow down my focus. Thank you!

Find the niche FIRST. Come up with a daily marketing plan. Get a website. Get an autoresponder. Create a squeeze page. Drive people to your squeeze page. Have them opt-in, and start marketing to your leads every few days. But not everyday.

Let me just say you are on the right track.

#1. You are right that there are so many options and you need to focus. A lot of things work, but are they right for you? I did the same thing you did for a year or so, looking all over trying different things, but the past year (my 2nd whole year online) I've focused, and it's made all the difference.

#2. You are right in realizing that there are tons of of legitimate ways to make money online, and that you should do your upfront research. That being said, instead of just taking action on all kinds of things and seeing where that takes you, take action based on 1) does it appeal to you/do you know you will stick with it, 2) is it something that isn't so complicated that it would take forever to learn and implement (that just puts you in a cycle it's hard to get out of) and 3) are you able to learn from others who show you how to be successful in that particular method.

After my 2 years of experience, I've really come back to the simplest things that simply work and get results that multiply (by multiply I mean you don't have to do more work for the money to multiply). If you're interested in learning more, I've set up a whole free membership (see below in my signature) that really simplifies action steps for people just getting started or who have not yet seen results online...I don't usually self-promote like that, but what I'm really trying to do here is to be helpful to others who are just like I was some time ago. It's free and simple, so feel free to check it out.

But finally, keep those big dreams. Just make the means to get to the dreams not so complicated. Plug into something, focus, and stick with it.

Thanks for the free membership. The thing I'm really learning is how I have to keep this really simple. By "being all over the place" in what I'm looking at and studying, that's what made it overwhelming. I'm seeing the key is really in the simplicity. I can build from there. Again, thanks.

You need to look at what skills you have, are willing to acquire, or have the funds to outsource (I don't recommend any outsourcing until you have something that already works). Then see which of the plans you have studied are best suited to your skills. For example it's no good getting into article marketing if your writing skills are poor.

BE WARNED - Careful who you take advice from on what works and what doesn't. From my impressions of the IM world it's quite common for people hear something from somewhere and then regurgitate elsewhere, with little regard for it's accuracy.

Basically do your due diligence on someone before you take advice from them.

    This is a common problem!

There is no RIGHT way - the best thing to do is go for a "way" that you are drawn too to match your strengths.

So for instance if you are a good writer then a decent fit might be to start with content writing. Likewise if you have an eye for design then building websites might be more your thing.

As long as you keep on going and actually work hard you should reach a measure of success and then you just stack from there.

    Good Luck!

    Chris

I understand what you are saying and I'm going throguh the newbie faze as it were. My problem is the information overload thing right now althouigh I need to learn. I've been online since the late 90's and have had a webpage since that time but I really didn't get serious and now I guess I'm paying for it. The site I still run has a product but the thing I messed up was that I never used a squeez page and never had a list but I could have had one quite easily because that site has had tons and tons of hits. What I did was just give the product away, it was an info ebook on the ps2, and never got to follow up on anyone. I do regret that but at the time I didn't know about all the IM info I needed to know even though I tried to find out how to make income online. So now I trust no one and seem to be learning alright I just need more time to take it all in. I'm getting ready to get a website together though and hope to have it up soon. I have about 10 in the early stages and have made a couple that aren't bad but again I haven't been serious due to the fact that I'm still learning. So having said all that I do thank you for the information and wish you well in all you do. I'm going off-line and getting into mobile devices as well and making apps and websites but that's down the road. All the best your way and thanks again.. Warriors, never give up is all I can say, I haven't! Get in there and find something you like or try somethng you might like but don't just sit on an idea because you will end up like me and time has gone by and it's 22 years later.. take care...

    Hi dholi1,

I believe you're stuck into this what we call 'paralysis analysis.'

Don't be overwhelmed with every new stuff that you encounter each day. Every day is a new day so expect new ideas every time you go online and read some threads on the Warrior Forum or anywhere on the Internet.

Based on what you mentioned in your post, here's what I recommend you to do.

    1. Rank your skills. Select top 5 skills.
    2. Spend your next 2 to 4 weeks in research on ways to make money online per skill.
    3. Scale your thoughts and make a good feel as to which among those ways to make money online is a perfect match to your top 5 skills.
    4. Focus on your chosen way to make money online. Move to another method of making money online as you become comfortable with your processes. You need to take one method at a time.

    I hope this helps.

I had to laugh when I read this quote. It's so true! I am very much an analytical thinker. So it's been easy to overthink things, stop moving forward and then get stuck on all the thinking and new ideas.

You're right. One day, one training type at a time. I'm learning!

      Thanks!

        Hi Dholi,

It's fine to think over things and analyze what may happen next.

But we all have to remember that 'execution' is the next phase after the 'planning' stage.

You do not need to make long term plan at all; this will certainly lead to discouragement. What you need to do is:

    1. Switch off your PC and Grab a piece of paper and pen.
    2. Sit down and refer to all the knowledge you gain throughout this month and prior to that.
    3. List them down with elaboration where needed.

NOW YOU HAVE A LIST OF KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY THAT YOU CAN USE.

    4. Continue brainstorming and try remember during the course of your training or knowledge seeking; which part of Internet marketing was most interesting to you.. *Hint: A topic that you can spend hours reading about it or even browsing the forum looking for any specific information about it.

NOW YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE - INTEREST

    5. Combine your knowledge and interest into one and focus on the ability of creating something worthy out of it. Merge two three methods of gaining money that focus around the interest and knowledge you have.

    6. Establish several alternatives and evaluate on short term basis(2-3 months) - how far you can reach using those alternatives *HINT: Pick the easiest one that you can keep adding new twists and tactics to it.

NOW YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE - INTEREST - SHORT TERM GOAL

    7. The next thing is to devise a masterplan; basically a timeline for that specific goal - Achievable in 2 months - how many hours per day - what are the steps you will be taking - deadline for each sub task.. Note them down and stick it in front of your pc.

NOW YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE - ABILITY - GOAL - ACTION PLAN

    8. The best thing is the last is where you start implementing the action plan while sticking to the deadlines set by yourself. Be focus and stick to it till the end. Do not lose focus and run after another method.

NOW YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE - INTEREST - GOAL - ACTION PLAN - PERFORMANCE.

    8. Now comes evaluation where you evaluate where it took you to by assessing the performance, any results etc.. This is where you decide to scale by adding more and more twists and tactics to make it more profitable.

    NOTE:
Short term can be days or weeks or months; depending on your pro activity and also do not create only one; create several methods of yours dedicating specific 30-40 mins per day to each of them.

At the end of the short period, you can assess which method is working for you and where you need to tweak or scale.

Actually this is one of the IM 101 videos series I did for my closed group coaching but I got you all the gist and main points here. So try to work that brain of yours a bit more and you will find the light

The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.....

You're right. There are several legit things you can do to make money online. The truth is that once you learn about the options available to you like having a blog, becoming a ghostwriter, having a PLR store, website flipping, and so on, you just have to pick a method that you feel suites your situation and what you want to accomplish and go for it. Lots of this stuff is "hand on," and the only way you're going to figure out whether or not you like something is to try it.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Find what you are most passionate about amongst all the IM methods/business models go with that. If you love it, you will find the motivation to do it. You could have a whole list of IM paths but go with what most interests you. You will not just find the motivation, but the funds and means of going about making it a success. So passion! remember that.

Simply choose one aspect of Internet Marketing that you are interested in. After, write down your resources and skills and the resources and skills required to carry out the projects in that aspect of IM. Choose one project for which you possess the skills and resources and endeavour to complete it.
