Amazon links? Tracking ID Q

When I created an affiliate link a couple of weeks ago, the tracking ID was in the middle of the URL, but now when I create a link the tracking ID is at the end of the URL instead. Does this make any difference? Will the old URLs still function correctly? My question is based on regular text links.

Yes the link should still work. As long as the keyword name is the same. If you want more info on how webpages pass information onto other pages, look up $GET php command.

Everything will still work. Just use whatever tracking number they give you and it will remain backward compatible.

In the last few months alone they have changed the format of the tracking code about three times, if memory serves. I'm not sure why they do it, but it always jumps out at me when they make a change. I'm adding things to my sites almost daily so I'm looking at that code all them time. After a while the format gets imprinted on my brain so when it changes I notice it right away.
