1st spot in Google, now does it mean anything?

Hello Warriors,
After I created my new Random Pricing Payment Button Generator a few weeks ago, I bought the domain http://randompricing.com, using only digg.com, the Warrior forum, and an article I wrote to scribed and hubpages....

I have noticed that Google has ranked me pretty good for a number of search terms....But I don't know if this means anything or not. I read a post on here yesterday or the day before, where someone was happy that he got the first spot and several warriors were quick to tell him that no one would use those search terms...

So, I am very happy with my results, seeing how I only bought the domain a few weeks ago, and uploaded the site last week....

Anyways here is what I found:

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,650,000 for how to create random price payment buttons
2nd position

Results 1 - 10 of about 115 for "payment button generator"
1st position

Results 1 - 9 of 9 for "payment button software"
1st position

Results 1 - 6 of 6 for "payment button creator"
1st position

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,770 for "random pricing"
1st position

Results 1 - 10 of about 14,800 for "random price"
4th position

Do you think this is good, honest opinions warriors....

For me it doesn't mean too much. It is because the most important thing it should be is to have more relevant or more specific content into your website. Content is most important for the costumers like me. Sometimes, ranking affect the quality of a website that they can offer. That is my opinion.

The only thing that matters is whether
those rankings get you any traffic.

Are you tracking your site to see how
many visitors you are getting and where
      they are coming from?

At the end of the day the only thing that
matters with rankings is traffic. It doesn't
matter if your ranking number 1 out of 10
trillion competing pages if it's not getting
you any traffic because nobodies searching
      for it.

A good idea for you to do, aswell as tracking
is to take those search terms you have listed
and plug them into a keyword tool and see how
      often they get searched.

If you haven't got tracking on your website
      then you can check out-

      Google Analytics

If you want to see how much your terms get
      searched then you can use-

      Google's keyword tool-
      https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

      or

      Wordtracker's free keyword tool-
Free Keyword Suggestion Tool From Wordtracker

      Hope this helps.

And whether the traffic is generating any sales ?

In my business being on page 1 of the big G for as many terms as possible means more sales!

If you are selling your random button then the search terms are likely relevant and the traffic may be low but its a specific search and therfore should get you a high conversion rate.

On some obscure long tailed serch terms we get a very very high sales conversion rate.

IMO Its all about making profitable sales.

Reynald, I agree with the fact about the content being the most important, when I design a Website for my clients I strive to make them user friendly not search engine friendly. Thanks for the reply

I think the Search Engines are getting better at matching user friendly and information relevant with ranking... i.e. less junk at the top.

However wikipedia is at the top of a lot of good searches and obviously has millions of visitors but its goal and reality is not about making money so that is fine with them.

The question becomes what is your goal and reality?

That makes perfect sense, and would explain why even though I focused on content and being user friendly instead of seo, my clients sites have great page rank.

"what is your goal and reality?"
I cant seem to get my goals and realities in check..... My goals are high and the reality is far from them.....

It is always good to land on Google's first page. I ran your keywords through Google's keyword tool and there is no advertiser competition for these words. This might be way you rank so high at the start. But there was searches being made on these words so you should get some traffic from it and sales to boot. Let us know how you do!

      Thanks Dave,
I can only hope so.....maybe I could at least close up the gap on my goal and reality as mentioned above...

        Don't over-complicate things.

Are you getting significant traffic from your SERP positions?

Have you successfully converted the traffic to dollars? If not, what methods have you tried?

          Mike,
Actually No I'm not....most of my traffic is from the WF. I attributed that to the fact that the site was new, and hoped that traffic from SERP was more long term, down the road....

And as for converting, that isn't working well either, I think it is because my sales copy is not compelling enough and flat out sucks....Writing copy and making videos, is something that I typically out source, but didn't in this case.

I have been doing a great deal of reading here and on the Web and currently in the process of revamping, my sales copy.

So, although I was impressed that the site climbed so fast through Google, I never read too much into it nor does it equate dollars....

If you're not getting a good amount of traffic from the those positions then I wouldn't worry about the sales copy right now. You need big traffic numbers to really test it.

            Instead I'd find better keywords.

      Brett,
Thanks for the kind words, Ive been around WF for abt a year now, and hardly ever posted, spent most of the time reading and trying to learn.....
It feels good to hear from someone that makes me feel as though all of the learning is starting to pay off....

      Thanks for the advice

What really matters is the quality and quantity of the searches and the intent of the people doing the searching.

If sales start rushing in, you'll have a definitive answer to your question.

I ran your keywords through MicroNichefinder. An any related categories MNF inidicates that there are <30 (the lowest estimate available) for each term. I'm guessing that this is your issue.

MikeWords suggested finding better keywords. I think he is probably right. Why not try doing some google searches using your keywords... see what else turns up and then try to determine what key words/phraases those sites are optimized for?
