Is mailchimp okay for just obtaining an email list?

Alright so I have a coming soon website I just set up, and I have an email opt in box to notify the users when the site launches. Currently this opt in box doesn't lead to anywhere because I don't have any email marketing software.

Now I know alot of people say dont choose mailchimp because of no affiliate policy, and that aweber is the best due to their tracking and templates.
But since I'm not going to be sending anything to my users just yet, is it wiser to choose mailchimp, because of the free 500 subs leeway that they offer?

When my website launches, I was thinking I can then go to aweber, or even interspire if it gets that far.

Thoughts?

They ban people who promote affiliate products through them, so if your a legit business promoting your own stuff, I guess they're still good

Even if you collect emails, it will be a hard work to transfer the list to aweber in the future... you need to have them re-subscribe..

Yeah as Adie said, there is a risk that you will waste your hardwork down the line when you try to move them over as Aweber doesn't allow you to just upload them in, they would essentially need to opt-in again into your list in Aweber

Maybe someone on here knows a discount code or link for Aweber?

I thought you don't need them to resubscribe if you switch to Aweber as long as they double opted in? or am I wrong here?

I think you need to ask them yo subscribe again. It's like uploading a fresh email list into aweber so they need to confirm.
