Alternative to Flippa

25 replies
Hey all

After flippa raised their fee to 29$, i started thinking if there is a real alternative to it.
I know you could post on IM forums and ebay maybe?
So where do you sell your websites beside flippa?

    Hi ivan,

    SEDO may be a option for you. I never used this site before but it's a good one as some of my friends sell their website in SEDO.

    Amazingly, I sold a site last week through http://www.dealasite.com/

    Apparently, it's a totally free platform that simply gets buyers and sellers together. It's then up to them to work out the details of the deal.

    Obviously the site has some flaws (which is made apparent by some of the bogus postings and offers) but I managed to sell a site through it for 10x revenue without losing any money to fees.

        But you can try to register there and post on english in 4th section from bottom. It is important to write all info about your website, hosting, earnings, visitors, age etc...

          Sales of 'websites' on DP and WF are very marginal.

          Does anyone had a success? . Eager to know the type of website that was sold for hundreds of dollars

    There's always Complete Sites for Sale in the Warrior Forum. $20 and it stays on the front page for at least a few days.

    I am just saying my opinion might be wrong!
    Warrior forum and Digital Point- Yes a good place to sell but i think you get a lot less money than from flippa, offcourse no guarantee there as well, in my current listing i havent got single bid with 24h to go

    Ive seen quite a lot of hate towards flippa lately, I mean, they are just doing precisely what ebay did, raising fees because they can. They understand they are the market leading website portal, so are understandably going to capitalise on that position by charging more, why would any of you expect anything else?

        The reality is, unless you're willing to pay Flippa's fees there are very few viable alternatives to get your site sold.

        1) For buying at least, Warrior Forum and Ebay Sites for sale sections are a waste of time. The type of sites being sold are generally template jobs. I guess if you're selling a template site then maybe they could be an option, but I'm not sure how many people buy from there as opposed to window shop, especially with the warrior forum.

        2) Digital Point will have the occassional gem but there's so much junk and scams to weed out first so it may not be worthwhile.

        3) There are other marketplaces to find websites for sale but many of these fail to get critical mass and eventually go out of business. In fairness, that list was from over a year ago so maybe more have come along since.

        If Flippa isn't an option for you then the best bet is probably selling to your competition or someone in a similar niche. Send a personal email with your contact number at the bottom and you'll probably be surprised how many people are willing to make an offer.

    You can't sell non-tangibles on eay (well you couldn't last time I checked). Flippa's fees are a joke.

    Domains ---> Sedo
    Websites --> eBay

    There is one more option I am avoiding to mention (because they are forum). You should be good with eBay but don't be in hurry to sell. It takes more time with eBay

    • A good idea could be opening a good Flippa clone from Agriya, in 2 or 3 together, and launch the clone promoting it here on Warrior Forum with special offers, for example a $47 fee to sell how much websites you want for a year.

      If well advertised and kept updated by someone famous here on WF, it can reach a good point. Others, not coming from WF, could have their first auction free, and then pay only success fees.

      For me the idea could work well, but alone I couldn't manage it...
      I sold a lot of websites on Flippa, but now it's impossible to sell 0 day websites newly created. So I stopped using that source.

      Thanks and see you soon,
      Alessandro

    the $29 at flippa is worth every cent, if you are a serious flipper that is. The site gets you the maximum exposure and ensures that noone cheats you. There is no true alternative to flippa which is as good.

    I am planninng for sell a few sites on warrior forum, and have not liked my FLIPPA experience. There are a lot of extra charges that add up. Mostly, I like to buy sites on ebay and also domain names. Still, people go to FLIPPA and expect to find great web sites for little money. What do we say - dream on.

    The $29 per domain it's just crazy + the exposure that you get is horrible (you have to pay more and more to get something better).

    Try fiverr. There are some gigs there that sell sites via mailing lists.

    If you can't absorb a $29 fee you are doing it wrong.
    Make or flip sites that actually have value.
