Hi Guys

Anyone know of any such site/platform where one can sell selling/marketing rights to publication.

I co-partnered with writer to sell his e-book which is biographical novel on famous person. We set up a 80:20% royalty agreement i.e 80% of sales to me & 20% to writer.

What's done in this project is: A lead capture page, A website dedicated to the e-book, 2 domains, payment processor set up to take orders for this e-book, email list of 101 subscribers, Facebook fan page with 3,650 fans & twitter account nearing 200 followers.

Basically I have got myself busy with so many projects and also involved in few disagreements with the writer guy. And hence I am looking to part ways by selling the 80% rights I own to the e-book which will recover monetary investment I have put in the project as well allow someone else to take over.

Flippa is one possibility but I am not just selling the website here but the 80% rights and all else as mentioned above. Any suggestions as to where I can put forward my proposal and hopefully get interest.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi

Does your agreement with the author allow you to sell your 80% to a third party?

Is the person who takes your 80% responsible for traffic and sales, or do they just sit and collect income while the author does the work? In other words, does buying the 80% mean you are now committed to spending a lot of time and effort promoting the ebook?

Is the new owner of your share likely to have problems with the author as you did?

With all the work done so far: website, list, facebook, twitter, how is the ebook selling?

      Hi onSubie

I will answer the queries you posed in your message, one by one s listed below:

      1. The agreement was standard Royalty agreement between a writer and a marketer. The writer is fine with getting someone else on board.

      2. The writer having completed the book & presented the book in pdf format has now nothing else to do.His job is complete. The sole responsibility of marketing and selling is with me. The writer will not borne any costs - he will simply get his 20% of net sales, which is good percentage since in publishing world I understand writer's royalty range from 2% to 10% maximum.

      3. Not really cause the writer is just interested in getting some monetary reward for his completed works. He is no marketer/promoter and realizes that.

      4. The e-book marketing is so far limited Facebook marketing. It has good potential due to immense popularity of person on whom the book is written about and a good looking website and punchy sales letter.

      Hope this answers your queries.

      Hi travlinguy

I understand what you mean but the topic of this book is certainly Non-Im related.

It is kind of biographical novel on a famous celebrity formatted in e-book.

Doesn't matter if it's IM related or not.

You aren't looking for people searching for a book to read. You're looking for someone to buy out your equity in the book and promote it for a profit. In other words, a marketer.

Make believe you are in investor in the Shark Tank:

    1. Disagreement with partner.
    2. No sales.
    3. Non-mainstream subject.
    4. Anyone can rip off the idea by writing their own book on the same subject

What do you think the valuation is for this deal?
