so I finally put up a website based around my new web marketing services, thanks to the ideas from some great warriors here.

i'm just putting this out there for people to see what I've done, and to also see what the fellow warriors think about it.

thanks in advance

Nice site Steve. I launched mine a couple weeks ago, but haven't done much to promote it yet. I have couple of irons in the fire, but that is from going into some businesses after sending a mailing.

I have some business cards ordered with my company name and information on them. I haven't done anything to tweak my site yet either. I've been working on other stuff, and plan to start working on tweaking it later this week.

My site is imediacolumbia.com

To your success,
Mike

Hi Steve, congrats on taking action. You might consider capitalizing the first letter of each word that starts a bullet point on the homepage .

"Increase"
"Build"
"Finally"

Go get 'em!

Steve,

I like your site. The case studies is good--especially once you get a few more to add.

I personally like to force an extra space between my bullet points to make it easier to read.

Good job!

As someone who's core business has always been offline that's funny...don't tell anyone, but I just heard that the next hot thing is something called "Online Platinum"

Interesting site.

Having a site like this can be a useful tool and it's great that you've taken some action.

For more important though is talking to business owners or getting in contact with them in some way (phone, mail, email etc) and getting hired.

The Offline Gold business model doesn't work too well until you start getting in touch with business owners and most of them don't have the time to surf around online.

The good news is even without a website you can get hired.

You just have to start talking to people.

You can even start with business owners you already know, business owners your friends knows and the owners of businesses where you buy things.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh

Awesome dude,

I really like how the site looks, very professional...

I personally started off in the IM world by freelancing so it was very easy for me to take business and also implement it to the offline world...

Best of all, you literally make 10X more money when you approach a offline brick and mortar business and offer your services simply because they have no idea what are the rates.

(Caught... $375 AWeber Newsletter installation + purchase under affiliate link :-))!

Good luck on all your ventures dude, and let me know if you need anything at all!

thanks for adding your 2 cents andrew. your posts have helped me a lot.

i know you say it's not necessary to have a website first, but i would just have more confidence in talking to a business owner when i'm marketing my business in a way that i'm trying to convince them to.

i have been talking to some business owners here and there (places i frequent as a customer) as I'm building my site. now I plan on doing more of that as well as some direct mail.

to be honest though, i'm looking to acquire work through partnership/J.V. deals to start it all off.

Great start Steve, I do think you have done the right thing and got a site or web presence up first. This was the way I did it!

Now you have a web presence you can get out there and prospect like crazy! You now have a point of contact to send business owners that want to see it!

Good start, keep movin', get prospecting!

Nice site Steve! I like the look/layout a lot!

Got a quick question for you...I'm in the middle of creating my own site to promote my SEO expertise here in my area and the one thing that I've been thinking about lately is what type of 'contract' would I have to put in place and where to go to get it written up properly?

I assume you have some type of contract already in place that you would have your future clients sign/agree to...Mind sharing some tips on how others can go about accomplishing getting this created or where to go to have one written for you?

Appreciate your thoughts/opinions on this matter.

To your continued success...

Nice site! One thing I would do is put an aweber form right under your consult banner that offers some kind of free report.

thanks ray. yes i have thought about what kind of contract to use, but the name of the actual "agreement" has actually slipped my mind right now. i'll be sure to let you know when i remember though.

i do remember that it's nothing too crazy, unless the client wants to have something done up. In that case we would still have to agree to the terms, and get at least a 50% retainer on the project.

Hi Steve,

Congrats on the start, you should consider having business cards designed and printed to compliment your website, especially if you're servicing local businesses.

There are tags in each Google Local Listing that you can use (at the bottom of the online form). Plug in internet marketing, email marketing, [location] internet marketing, [location] email marketing, etc.
