Protecting Clickbank Download Files and Pages

Do most clickbank owners protect there thank you pages and more importantly the links to the downloadable files? If so, what do they use? Too many torrent and file sharing sites to not do this. Any suggestions on how to approach this? The security key pass on clickbank isn't enough IMO nor is a no follow no index. Suggestions? Has anyone list sales here bc of this?

    Clickbank has a page with some info, but most of it is pretty intense, unless you have some experience with CGI programming.

    Other than that, there are several quality software scripts and services that you can install in between the purchase and the download page such as DLGuard which used to be (and may still be) one of the popular ones in the IM community.

    I actually don't have any clickbank products yet but I want to. I launched several WSOs and I'm using WSOPress and WP Secure Link from Mark Hess, this is really great plugin to protect your download page and the download link itself. I'm using it and it seems there is no Black Hat forums that can access my download page. Since the buyer will need to login to our WP to access their purchase.

    Talking about Clickbank, there are also a plugin called WP File Lock you can use this plugin to protect your download. Not only protect your download but also it helps you to build your list. That's pretty awesome.

    I would like to know how you can protect your Clickbank download page URL, with DLGuard. It looks like it only protects the actual file only, and not a way to protect or hide the download page URL.

      DLGuard checks to make sure a successful payment has been made before allowing access to the download area.

        Here's how I recommend you protect your thank you pages.

        It also protects the downloads as well

        And the thank you page can be customized (you can put anything on it you like), and personalized to the customer too (put the customer name, time of purchase, receipt number, etc. on the page).


        It will also automatically send a fully customizable thank you email to your customer too. I think this is very important, as my experience is if you send the customer an email, that is obviously personalized (contains their name & receipt), reminds them of the charge, how it will show on their billing statement, how to contact you, that you will support them, and that you are a real person - if you do that, it will reduce your refund & charge-back rates, sometimes quite dramatically.

    I protect all of my sites with wishlist member.

    A bit heavy to use, but it's worth it if you don't want your pdfs jacked.

    It works, too, and I frequently use it for simple setups.

      It's a good starting point if you are going to roll your own solution - but it's only a starting point. There is a lot more programming required to make it into a genuine solution to the issue.

      I believe his solution (as it stands) is seriously incomplete for at least 4 reasons:

      1. It protects against a thank you page being accessed by just typing something like www.yoursite.com/thankyou.php - as all the parameters must be correct, but once 1 customer has a valid set of parameters, they are valid forever - even if that customer shares them

      That means if somebody posts on a blackhat forum (or tells their friends via email) the valid URL is http://www.yoursite.com/thankyou.php...=123&cbpop=etc...

      Then anybody can access that URL. The only way round it is to change the secret key regularly... which puts you back in the situation just like having to change the thank you page URL regularly.


      2. Once somebody has a valid thank you page, there is no limit on the number of accesses or IP addresses that can access it.

      So even if you log-in and manually change your secret key daily,

      There's nothing to stop a bunch of people agreeing to share a lot of copies in 1 day


      3. The download URL within the thank you page is not protected at all.

      Once somebody has accessed the thank you page, they can use put their mouse over the link to the ZIP/EXE/PDF/etc., do "Copy Link", and then tell anybody about that link. Anybody who is told that link can download the file without even going via the Thank You page!


      4. While protecting the thank you page is important, you also want to personalize it, to insert stuff like customer's name, receipt number, time of purchase, or other details into the page. And ideally, send the customer a personalized email too. Well you should - if you care about reducing the number of refunds & charge-backs.

    There exist softwares, which protect your Thank You/Download page. For example, you will generate a special url for a product and then set that URL in your "CB" product's dashboard settings, as your THANK YOU page. Then everyone, who purcahses your product, will be redirected to that page at first, and there he passed a validation. ( Try in google "Clickbank thank you page protector" to find such soft. )

    In addition to the other suggestions, couldn't you password protect the pdf file? The password would be delivered to only email addresses of those who purchased. That might prevent some theft.

    Hello!

    I have a clickbank product, an ebook. I used virtual vault to save it from thieves, but, they shut down this program and it's not available anymore. My question is, is there any program which can do the same?

    Virtual vault was able to protect my PRODUCT. It converted my pdf to an exe file and my costumers could only open it on their computer where they dowloaded it. They couldnt share it on the internet, they couldnt print it, the couldnt make a printscreen etc. I need a program, or method which can do the same.
    My thank you page contained the download link, so I changed this link in every two days... It cost me 3 minutes...

    So! Any ideas to my problem?

    I am pleased to say that after finding a few pirated copies of my book being sold last year, I don't have the problem any more for a few reasons:

    1. I have succeeded in taking down most of the pirates.
    2. My webmaster is brilliant and now you can type in www.starttodayhomebusiness.com/thankyou.php for all you are worth and get an error 404 message every time. To save thieves the trouble this is a live link.
    3. The only edition still available on a black hat site is my first edition, now very obsolete, so good luck to anyone who uses it. It contains not much more than I have posted for free in my numerous posts on WF. It was 27 pages, and the latest edition is 83. I update every 2 to 3 months and the latest edition is a substantial revision.
    4. To download the book, buyers must log in.
    5. I now don't include everything on the initial download. To get the last part of the product, buyers have to log in so that they can download it. Been doing this for a couple of months and not a single complaint.
    6. Users of pirated copies don't get any support. That is only available to original purchasers quoting purchase receipt and having a matching name and email address.
    7. Users of pirated copies don't receive free updates.

    It's been a lot of work to secure my property from thieves, but I don't like the idea of having my lifetime's experience stolen. I have had a few people with the pirated edition try to get personal support, but the new security system means that I don't even have to bother answering. It must be very frustrating for them.

    My PDF Watchdog will watermark the customers name, email and transaction ID onto every page of the PDF document which

    1) Deters anyone from file sharing
    2) Makes it easy to track down and take action against anyone silly enough to share it.

    It also doesn't limit you to an exe wrapper which only works on Windows.
