Anybody heard of blog carnivals, and what exactly are they?

Let's say that you have a blog about gardening. You search for a blog carnival on Google that is gardening related. Then you find out the next time that the carnival will 'publish'. You submit your article to the carnival and it links back to your blog. Some carnivals have a good page rank and it just gives you another 'related' backlink to your blog along with traffic from there. Similar to an article directory but more targeted.

This is something neat. I have never heard of this and have been very active and knowledge in the SEO and Social Media Marketing industry for several years.

This is good to know and it seems that this is something that can be very nice to be able to help build backlinks as well as targetted traffic to ones site or blog.

Thanks for asking about this because it is very neat thing that people need to know about and understand when it comes to marketing.

A blog that I have in my feedreader, Working at Home on the Internet, hosts a weekly blog carnival that is related to that theme.

Here is last weeks: Working at Home Blog Carnival-128th Edition

The owner of WAHI, Joe, puts quite a lot of effort into running the carnival each week. If you want to see a good example of a blog carnival check it out.

Blog carnivals are a good way to get traffic to your site. Blog Carnival - Blog Communities Publishing Magazines is the main one as far as I can tell. I'd like a list of others if anyone has one, blogcarnival doesn't have many blogs in my niches.
