Is it feasible/possible to publish a book on both Amazon AND Clickbank?

I have been considering publishing the content of my Amazon Kindle book on Clickbank too so that affiliates would sell it and to make more money from my book. However, I am not sure about how good of an idea this is, mainly because it may confuse customers as they see the book on Amazon promoted on my site and then the book in another format being promoted by another website (affiliate).

Any of you have your book/s on both Amazon and Clickbank? If so, how has it panned out with your customer/fan base and in terms of revenue?

Thanks.

I would publish a more involved offer on Clickbank and use Amazon Kindle less expensive "intro" version to market your back-end product.

For example, take one chapter out of your ebook (assuming it is still useful by itself) and publish that on Kindle leaving the full ebook + a few bonuses to CB at a higher price point for affiliates to promote.

Alternatively, you could offer the bare bones ebook on Kindle and offer the ebook + bonuses (access to a private site with video exercises from each chapter, an audio version of the ebook, an additional exercise book, relevant PLR bonus reports, etc...) on CB

Thanks for your suggestion. In my specific case, my book is not related to IM (it is specific to a niche about leisure) and I have written a very detailed book to the point that it is what one would regard as a "bible" (with all my due respect for our religious folks here). It is that in depth.

I had originally intended to put it on Amazon seeing that all big books and big authors are on Amazon but I have never been happy with the price tag of $9.99 being the maximum to get the 70% royalty on Amazon. I have really worked my butt for this book and $9.99 doesn't represent the effort I have put into this book. I would say $15 would be the lowest price in terms of what I'd think for a reasonable price (and one which people would buy too).

I mean, having a book on Amazon (provided it is a good book, which mine is) not only sells good (with the $9.99 price tag) but it also gives you a good image (Amazon author bla bla bla) whereas Clickbank, not so sure about it.

In terms of image/branding and bearing in mind this book is not IM related, would publishing a bare-bone type book on Amazon followed by putting the in-depth book on Clickbank be the best option then?

As I say, the manuscript is written, it has mid-hundred pages, with diagrams and super detailed. I had intended to publish it on Amazon and then read about their funny royalty scheme (70% up to $9.99) so I am not so happy with doing Amazon Kindle anymore.

Similar to what Jeff said, except I would suggest you take your book, have it turned into an audio format, or even create supplemental videos to go along with it. Sell THAT on CB and the pure ebook on Kindle.

I like this, very good idea. I think you should go with this, very simple but it would look great.

No, I wouldn't publish bare bones on Amazon. I would publish the whole thing and charge what you feel is appropriate. Then add some extra bonuses and perhaps as I said, make an audio version of the book. Put that on Clickbank.

But you could also create other value-added products and link to them in your books, and sell those products on Clickbank. Then your book is a lead generator.

Thanks. This book was more as a hobby of mine (not my main business) but I got carried away with writing it and already have people willing to buy it.

I really don't want to make further materials because it is so time consuming (been working on the book for several hours every single day for the last year). Unfortunately, the royalty scheme on Amazon really puts me off, if I wanted it to price it at, say, $19.99 (which I think is a more decent price), I would make about the same money than pricing it at $9.99 due to the change in royalty %!

I will definitively consider your suggestion though if I feel like investing more time on making more materials.

I think the point here is that the OP cannot be certain how well the book will sell in Amazon initially. That's why considering Clickbank makes sense to have promotion other than only being listed in Amazon.
Obviously Kindle pricing is limiting, from 7$ a sale nothing much left for being offered in CB. One option would be only selling through CB, however being listed in Amazon sounds good for the writer plus its an opportunity to reach millions of potential buyers so there is a need to keep that too.

Why not extract some parts and offer free in Kindle? Having the link to the full product of course. It would generate interest and collect potential buyers for the full product.

Full ebook for 9.99 (and see if it will sell at all, maybe even at 9.99 it wont sell that good...who knows?) - price is already quite high for impulse buying... higher price tag would need harder sales pitch (CB).
Then follow the advice above and create an extended product for Clickbank?

One could make the same argument in reverse. You can't automatically assume that because the product is listed among CB's 12,000+ products that affiliates will line up to promote it. Especially in a non-IM niche.

You also can't automatically assume that you'll sell more copies on Clickbank. Especially with no add-ons or bonuses in a marketplace that has been conditioned to expect them.

You can't automatically assume that anyone finding the product on either Clickbank or Amazon will automatically find the other product and make the connection. You can justify a somewhat higher price for a PDF version due to it being in a more utilitarian format (it can be printed, or specific pages can be printed, for example).

Remember, too, that CB affiliates have become accustomed to 50% to 75% commissions. To make the same profit as a $9.99 Kindle book, you would have to charge $15-$28 for the CB version, not counting CB's fees.

It's not as simple as just saying "I don't like the pricing structure".

As for putting a partial or stripped down version on Kindle and using it as bait for a more expensive version, I want to see the reviews on that one...

I've published Kindle books on Amazon, sometimes at a high price, just so that I could have a link to the book there to show people they were getting a better price at Clickbank (or wherever.) The purpose was not to sell books at Amazon, just to use it to establish credibility and to show that the book really is being offered at the high price.

Also, in my book description for Amazon, I design the artwork for the cover so that it says: 5 Free Bonus Videos. To get the videos (posted on a private webpage) they have to sign up for my email list. The link address is inside the book.

If possible, you may want to break up your book into Vol 1, 2, 3.
That would bring the price down slightly but would get you a bigger audience and you might make more money. Then, at the end of Volume 1, you might sell them Vol 2 right off your own website and keep all the profits.

The nice thing about Kindle books is that you can update them regularly with new links or resources or if you find mistakes in them.
