HI,

I am working on one ecommerce site... I have created around 100 categories and subcategories...

Now my query is: Its becoming a tough for me to align them properly under Menus.. Its really becoming a tough dragging each subcategory and dropping into under Main Category... Its taking my lot of time..

Could anyone suggest me inorder to reduce time on this...?

Waiting for quick replies...

Thanks!

      Hi gillw254,

      You'd probably get more help if you were more specific.

      What tool are you using to build this site?

      Why is 'dragging and dropping' such hard work?

      If what you are saying is not that it is hard work, but your site is looking bad because you have too many categories and sub-categories, or because the quantity of categories is making it tedious - then again - you need to be more specific and give more details about what you are doing, what tools you are using and what exactly the problem is.

        I have 100's of products into various categories and sub-categories... please dont ask how it was added...

        BUt once after we created them, in Dashboard under Appearance --> Menus, we will find a widget called 'Categories' on left below..

        Now my query is

        : By - default, they're sorted alpahbetically, BUT I want them to see categories--> Subcategories and also they should display around some 100 (I guess by-default they're displaying just 20 )

        So, how do I acive this through code ..?

          I guess you're using wordpress?

          Well if you want help, you need to state this or else which type of Content Management System (CMS) that you are using.

          If it's wordpress, the short answer is this -

          You either need to -

          a) find and configure a plugin that will enable you to do what you want

          b) find and pay a programmer/web designer who will hack your theme/wordpress in order to make this possible. If they hack the theme then you'll need them to create a child theme so that when you update your theme it doesn't break everything

          It's highly unlikely that someone on this forum is going to be able to make a post which will solve all of your issues.

          The chances of this are even less if you are not able to give anyone the basic information they need to diagnose the problem, such as what CMS you are using.

          You should also try and be more specific with your questions, EG -

          By - default, they're sorted alpahbetically, BUT I want them to see categories--> Subcategories
          You don't state which type of ordering you require as opposed to alphabetically - date order? Your own specific order? Something else?

          Even just providing a link would enable anyone who can be bothered to look for the answers themselves.

          Hope this helps.

            Hi,

            At first, thnx for trying to help me out..

            Sorry for that I was not clear... and YES im using Wordpress only...

            I have an Ecommerce site related to 'Electronic Goods' where I keep all kinds of Electronic products.. so I bady needed many categories and sub-categories inorder to display my products in each and every category..

            Anyway, I have already created All 100's of categories.. Now what actually the probem Im facing is: Since I have too many categories, its becoming a difficult to organize them under Menus..

            Plaease login to wordpress dashboard, click Apperance -- Menus, on left side you will see 'Categories' widget , click 'View All' , by default, you will see the categories in an Alaphabetical Order...

            I used this plugin 'WPEssence Bulk Categories' to arrange my categories, sub-catgories... If I just add all those categories under my custom menu 'SIte Menu', its becoming a tough for me to organize them...

            So, at the end, All I need is: My menus should appear as how I have created categories, subcategories, sub-sub categories.. Its becoming a Tough for me Drag & Drop and arrange menus, submenus, sub-sub menus as I have some 100's of categories, so is there any easy way so I dont need to drag, drop and arrange my menus....

            For eg: (My menus should display as below )
            Cat1 ----> SubCat1
            Cat1 ----> SubCat2
            Cat1 ----> SubCat1 --> SubSUbCat1
            Cat1 ----> SubCat1 --> SubSUbCat2
            Cat1 ----> SubCat1 --> SubSUbCat3

            etc..

            Hope Iam bit clear now *(sorry for bad eng)..

            I tried my best to explain well.. so, pls advise me now..

    Try to be precise, what e-commerce platform you are using?
    Some platforms has bulk upload options too..
    Try that.

    In short: This is what I need:
    --------------------------------------

    I have created a Custom Menu 'my menu' and in that all my categories , sub categories, sub-sub categories should be added arranged Automatically... I cannot arrange myself all of these categories in this custom menu, since it has some 100's of categories..

      Hi gillw254,

      So it sounds like what you have done is -

      Started building a site using wordpress and a plugin, without establishing before you started that wordpress and the plugin are not suitable/optimum for a site with 100s of categories like yours.

      If you look at what wordpress was originally designed for (blogging) it's nothing like what you are using it for. Although wordpress is very flexible, it sounds as though you have pushed the boundaries too far.

      I have built sites that had the same issue (but with less categories) and found that my solution was to use posts not pages.

      As I said above, it's doubtful anyone can provide a solution on here, although it may be possible - someone may come along who solved the same issue.

      I certainly don't have an answer for you I'm afraid, except that I think you should try and find someone to work with you on this who knows what they are doing and who will tell you the right CMS/plugins to use from the start.

      Sorry I can't help more.
