Hands on approach for newbies?

I have been in the "internet business" for the past five years or so, though most of it deals with the content side (i work as a content writer for a couple of websites) My one successful site was a news site but that was due to Google News. I have attempted to create standalone/specific affiliate marketing type sites on a couple of times but on both occasions, i seem to hit the Great Wall of China when it comes to marketing (including link building). I have read a countless forum posts and articles, bought a few books, bought UA and joined a program (SBI) and while the information has been really great, i am unable to apply the theoretical knowledge on a practical basis for my site.

Can somebody help me find a training program that has a "hands on" approach...and instead of a generalized set of action steps, it provides a bit more customized/detailed blueprint of what should i be doing next (for example instead of saying this, this and this is the way you can market the site/get links, can it instead say..first you should do this, then try to submit here...hope you get the idea) Heard about something called Wealthy Affiliate and another called Healthy Wealthy Affiliate training programs...are they any good? Do they provide the sort of help that i am looking for?

p.s: saw a similar help thread down below...so hope that i have not posted this in the wrong forum

    Hi italiangrecko,

Can somebody help me find a training program that has a "hands on" approach...and instead of a generalized set of action steps, it provides a bit more customized/detailed blueprint of what should i be doing next
    Nope.

But I can tell you that in terms of what your goal is, doing this -

I have been in the "internet business" for the past five years or so, though most of it deals with the content side (i work as a content writer for a couple of websites) My one successful site was a news site but that was due to Google News. ...is more likely to teach you what you want than -

read a countless forum posts and articles, bought a few books, bought UA and joined a program (SBI)
    and

Heard about something called Wealthy Affiliate and another called Healthy Wealthy Affiliate training programs
    and

    find a training program
Build more sites but pay attention to everything that occurs, every metric you can find, every stat and every user action. Treat the process as an education in itself, act like a sponge and learn from what happens when you take those actions.

Then look at other peoples' sites and study every metric and aspect of those sites as you can too.

THEN, if necessary, perhaps purchase some educational material. This is what so many people get back to front.

The internet is a blank canvas, so get painting. Allow yourself to fail and then learn from the experience. Too many people feel that failure from action is not allowed, so they instead justify failure via paying for more education, because in a bizarre way that is more acceptable. It should in fact be much less acceptable.

    Hope this helps.

I recommend you select a coach. You can get hands on training, and if you're willing to take action you have the best chance for success.

Don't waste time, decide on a coach and move forward quickly. Don't look back.

I am kind of in the same boat. It seems trial and error is all you can really do. Just keep moving forward.

If you have the money to pay a coach you can go that route. If you don't, as many people don't, you simply learn by doing. That's the way I learned along with some very good guidance.

In some of the smaller affiliate programs you are provided a personal mentor to help you make your first sales and then to continually help improve your site(s) to go on and make more sales- MoreNiche is one example but there are others

Coaches are your best bet. They'll guide you in the right direction.
    Good luck!

Nobody can guide you to success except you. You will get a very generic training from every course and you will realize at some point that no body can be duplicated. Every successful person might be using a strategy that someone else has created but they have been innovative and created a unique way of making that strategy work. Its up to you to create your own success. There are tons of threads asking for step by step directions but it will not matter because YOU reading this have to be your own super hero. Coaches can guide you in the right direction and be a great source of motivation but in the end its up to you. You have to do the work. You need to think outside of the box. You have to hold yourself accountable. Be the innovator and create your own success.

I'll be honest - I have paid a lot of money over the years learning and one of my favorite "teachers" is Erica Stone. Look here up here if you are interested in learning affiliate marketing with Amazon. She is a great teacher!

Do you mean you found her products helpful (looking at Extreme Review right now) or did you get personalized coaching from her? If its the latter...how do i approach her since she does not say that she is offering any such training

You will need to take action soon and "get your feet wet". Experience trumps theory, so get out there and do something.

Thanks for the replies...just read my post and i am a bit embarrassed to say it looks like a whine...of course i am not looking for someone who will lift up my foot and drop it forward at every step...i am looking for guidance but a bit more detailed than the generic one available online...i think i will push ahead with trying out different steps..all i will lose is some time (which is usually spent playing games :p)
