Urgent Help - Block Returning Visitors

Hi there.

This might seem like adaft post but im looking to ban returning visitors to my site. I have changed it to a Squueze Page and can provide a OTO and that will block return visitors unless they clear their cookies/history.

Can anyone tell me off a Wordpress plugin that can do this for me please or a line of code i can place into my site please.

thanks

    Hi

What is it you are trying to do?

You want to prevent them from buying things or you want them to not be able to re-subscribe when they un-sub?

Do you want to prevent people from returning to the squeeze page, or you want to prevent them from returning to the OTO?

Either way it sounds like you are trying to reduce your sales and income. Why?

Other than a cookie, tracking by IP address is about all I can think of...And that creates some issues of its own. For example, you could be blocking entire ISPs and not just an individual.

It wouldn't be perfect, but using IPs would probably work pretty well for blocking returning visitors.

You just need a way to capture the IPs. Then, a good old-fashioned SEO page cloaker script could redirect to any page you want for any visitor using one of those IPs.

Im looking to ensure that a visitor can only visit my site once. I am being told by an affiliate company that i cannot advertise a promotion code on my site and they are visiting my site daily and banning my code, so i want to leave it off for a week so that they visit my site and then cannot return and then place my code back on my site after that week, knowing that they think my site has been closed/or has problems.

      cheers

        Oh, I see.

There are WP plugins that will hide advertising from set IPs and crawlers. Usually used to hide AdSense or other ads for manual reviews or when crawled by Google to hide affiliate links.

For example, you could ban all the IPs that originate from your affiliate company. Then they wouldn't see any ads/codes but regular visitors would.

If your coupon code is shown as an 'ad' maybe an ad blocker like this would work.

I haven't used any so I can't recommend but I found this with Google and it looks pretty powerful. Free too.

Edit: Looking at the demo of the above plugin I see several options that may work for you

If you rely on Google search then you could only display the code when a visitor comes from a search engine. Presumably your affilate managers are coming to your site directly and not via a search engine.

If you are using PPC or other method where you know where the traffic is coming from, you could display codes only to visitors that come from those sources.

You could automate your plan. Hide all codes for a span of dates, then hide codes from all return visitors (regulars). People could return to the site but wouldn't see any codes after their first visit.

Not sure if it is exactly what you are looking but Mark Hess just released a WSO that might do what you want, it's a download protection link plug-in.
