Help / Advice - I don't know where to start!

Hello all

I joined this site months ago, but thought it had been closed down for some reason, as when I tried to log on once it didn't work. I am glad to see it is still here.

I am interested in earning money online, but don't have much money or a club how to go about doing it.

I live in the UK, I am passionate about sport, mainly football (LFC), have a good degree in Marketing (have had a journal published), have worked for some good companies, but want to now be my own boss and work online.

Can anyone give me any advice how to go about this?

What type of things can I do? Is there anything I should specifically read? Could I do a joint venture with someone?

I think I have a lot to offer, but just need a heads up how to get started and proof it can work online and people are successful.

Anyway I won't bore you all too much, I look forward to hearing from your replies and will appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Dr Doom

Website flipping. I mean, I came across a company yesterday that was selling small basic websites (only a few days old) for $400 dollars two days after the site was built. You can just build very basic sites with some products on it, and sell it as a business.

You should start with a business plan.

Spend some time researching and decide what it is you want to sell online.

    You have 3 choices:

Services - you provide a service

Products - you can affiliate and sell other peoples products. These can be digital or physical

Your Products - find a need that you can figure out the solution to, create the product, and sell it.

Don't get caught up in the "how do I make a website" and "how do I make a link" and all the products that offer you quick ways to make money.

You are starting a business just as if you would offline.

Find your niche, and decide how you want to monetize on it. Check out competition and see how they are doing it.

    Then use your marketing knowledge.

Make a list of your skills if you want to sell a service.

Make a list of products you use if you want to affiliate.

It's up to you to narrow it down before you can even think about a JV - as you'll want to partner with someone familiar with what you are doing.

    Hi Dr Doom

Well there are many ways to make money online. I have an new eBook called 50 Money Making Ideas that could give you some guidance. In terms of making money online, affiliate marketing might be right down your alley considering that you have marketing experience. To get involved with affiliate marketing all you need is a website and you can begin writing articles promoting products to your viewers. There is a affiliate program called Clickbank that is basically a library of products available to promote and its a good place to start when deciding what products you would like to promote and what niche you would like to build your site around.

    Hope this helps

Dr Doom look at internet marketing the same way you look at Walmart. The first thing you need to do is set up your virtual Walmart. That is going to require you do some niche research, keyword research and check out your competition/ potential JV partners.

Ask your self the question what problems do I want to solve?

Walmart solves thousands of problems in their store. If you need just about anything you can go there. In internet marketing you want to first focus on a niche and then get more laser targeted into a sub niche. Example: Health and fitness niche. Laser targeted sub niche: Get rid of man boobs. Don't try to be Walmart just yet try to be a aisle of Walmart to start.

Its best to start as a affiliate marketer. Why? You don't have to go through the hassle of creating a product and can make up to 75% promoting other people's converting products. Check out Clickbank for a ton of niches and products. There is a 3 step formula that you must get really good at.

    1. Conversion = You must properly presale your visitors to want the solution on the money page. Build a email list with the traffic that comes to your page. On the backend build a relationship with that list. Build value and recommend the best solutions to their problems.

    2. Traffic = People need to walk into Walmart for them to make any money right? Its the same with your online marketing business. There are tons of different ways to drive traffic.

Article marketing, pay per click campaigns, forum marketing solo ads, banner marketing, press releases, social media, seo, post card marketing, voice broadcasting, and on and on. Choose a method or two and become a master at it. Drive that traffic and track your conversions.

    3. Sales = Once you get the 1 and 2 down to a system scale up your business with paid marketing.

    Traffic + Conversions = Sales

Once you have a working formula for both scale up your traffic generation efforts and keep tracking, testing and tweaking until your conversions are insane. Hope this helps...

You can start with Google Adsense or Clickbank. Get your own website or blog, put up affiliate links and adsense code, then just start driving traffic to it.

There are numerous ways to get traffic to a web site, and if you do a search here at the WF you'll have lots of reading to keep you busy. But in general, you need to some basic search engine optimization on your site, build backlinks to it, and promote the dickens out of it. :-)

the first thing you should do is to research the different business models, ecommerce drop-shipping, or affiliate marketing, or selling your own information products or whatever else.

Decide what business model is best for you, then find someone who is currently making a great living doing what you want to do. Pay close attention and watch what they do, model them closely, don't copy model, big difference.

Then find someone who also teaches the information, but make sure they are teaching from experience and are not just teaching theory they haven't actually tested themselves.

Then stick with it, don't continue to buy how to products, unless you are actually applying and testing what you are learning.

Understand that this is a business and do whatever it takes to make it work.

Drop ship. You don't even need a website. You can use eBay and amazon. You can be up and running within a couple days.

      Hey Dr Doom,

ok to get started in this industry ideally you need to have the correct mindset, treat it like a business and not a part time hobby.

There are so many different ways to make money online, you just have to see what you have an interest in and stick to it from start to finish. you could start with flipping sites, affiliate marketing, cpa etc etc etc....

i would recommened to start with affilliate marketing that way you gt a good idea on how an online business works.

You could sell custom fanpages to your local business. We have a lot of our customers who do this and depending on how much effort they put into it they can make quite a bit of money or just a nice side income.

Maybe start by changing your name to something a bit friendlier. Do it before you get a lot more posts up. Then put a smiling picture up. Some people won't want to be associated with the idea of doom.

No. I'm totally serious. I would never partner with anyone that had a name that might be in the slightest way offensive. Who the hell wants to associate with doom? You might be the most optimistic guy on this forum but your name says otherwise.
