"you are now able to subscribe to my premium newsletter"
Basically, after someone buys a product of mine, I have a follow up page that states by buying this product they are given the oppurtunity to sign up for my "Premium newsletter". This would be basically like my regular list, but I would include more freebies then I would for my regular subscribers. Obviously, I would still be providing valuable contenet to both lists, but slightly more to those deemed premium.
I feel like this technique, whether employed after a sale or not, could be good at getting more subscribers. Make it seem like they are getting something special, in addition to any freebie your enticing them with to sign up they get to be part of this select group of subscribers that everyone isn't a part of. A small little ego boost to them if you will.
I feel like a lot of people are only trying to get people to sign up through their freebie, and aren't really playing into people emotions enough. By inflating people's egos and making them feel like this is above all the other stuff they see on the web, I fell like one could get many more subscribers, and I feel these would also be better quality subscribers as well.
