Hi, I am very new to this and I have only just began to research and study into Internet marketing. I have obviously come across lots of companies offering 'get rich quick schemes'. I like the idea of making lots of money quickly, but that is not realistic, I was wondering what I could expect to earn on a monthly basis if I work hard to learn the systems, processes etc. just to give you a bit of background on me, I am 26 mother of one baby girl and I currently work full time. I am comfortable financially as I do have a good well paid job but I want more than just working full time, not being able to spend time with my baby or partnew and getting paid well. I want to get paid well but have more time with my baby, perhaps part time?! Sorry if this is a personal question, I just don't want my expectations to be clouded by all these schemes!! Thank u :-)

If you're talking about the ones promoted as "get rich quick schemes", there's almost no possibility at all of your earning anything worth talking about on a monthly basis from those.

One of the most fundamental and important rules of thumb for anyone in your position, thinking of earning additional money through internet marketing, and wanting to be able to earn enough from it to do less (or no) other work and to have more "family time" available, is to stay well away from anything being promoted with an income claim.

If you're asking more, in general, what sort of earnings you might make from "internet marketing" on the assumption that you set up your own profitable online business, there are many threads (including quite a few recent ones) in which people discuss their earnings in general terms, albeit not often with specific figures, and they can certainly be inspiring to some people. And were, to some extent, to me when I started.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your learning-curve.

I'm sure you're already aware of the following fact, but as a Internet marketer, you are a business owner yourself in the earning potential is limitless. Unfortunately, the average amount a Internet marketer mixes $0 as they come into the industry with the wrong mindset and quit before ever making a penny. Your best bet is to think of it like college you take classes do a heck of a lot of work building up your education before ever expecting a solid, consistent income.

The most important thing is not how much you could earn. But finding something that you like doing online, from what you could make the money.

If you want numbers. Most methods would require hard work at the beginning and would yield small income, probably less than $100 the first month, but then it would be a good addition to your salary in the long term. Although there are quite a few methods whih yield high profits even the first month, but they require much more work to keep them going. I have recently tested out a method, in total I had about 4-5 hours of pure work, which gave me $100+ and continues to give me extra money once in a while.

Edit:Something you might like to try is fiverr, could be a great opportunity to gain the initial extra income. You can find more info in my link, sorry for the shameless self promotion

But as someone above me mentioned most of the people earn exactly $0. They do give up to early, or are afraid to try and worry to much about how much they can earn with it.

You can certainly create a decent second income with internet marketing and in time do it full time. I started while working a full time job. It took a while to increase earnings to go full time, but it's doable.

I've purchased countless courses, guides, reports etc. on how to make money online. Some were helpful; many were not helpful.

The thing is there are many models you can choose from that work. You must determine what you like doing, find a model that requires as much of what you like doing as possible and focus like a laser on that model.

For instance, many people do well promoting Amazon (and many people don't do well).

Many people do well offering services to businesses (writing, web design, SEO, graphic design, marketing ... types of services you can do from home).

Many people do well focusing on building up subscribers of readers with an e-mail software platform (autoresponder). Many will tell you this is the best method. I've had some success with it, but not nearly to the degree of many others on this forum and elsewhere.

Some people build up large websites that attract plenty of traffic and monetize that traffic in a number of ways such as affiliate promotions, building up their e-mail subscribership, ads (such as Adsense), Cost per Click offers and/or to sell their own products. Some sites do all of these methods. Some focus on one or two monetization methods only. It depends on your audience. For instance, some don't use Adsense because it sends traffic away from a site while some people are content with sending traffic away for a few cents or dollars (the amount of a click depends on the site/web page topic).

Some people run e-commerce stores selling products that they carry as inventory or have inventoried elsewhere.

Some people build membership sites where they charge a monthly fee for access to content/software/forum ... something of value people are willing to pay for every month.

Some people create a digital product and sell it. They may sell it largely through recruiting affiliates or as a Kindle book on Amazon. Of course they often promote it themselves.

Some people create small sites with a cost per click offer and some info and send as much traffic (paid and/or free) to those sites. Similarly, some create simple one-page sites (plus the usual disclaimer/contact/privacy pages) with a free offer in exchange for an e-mail address and then focus on generating income through the e-mail autoresponder.

These are just some of the common business models. There is a lot that goes into making them successful such as choosing a niche, getting traffic and converting that traffic.

That said, every one of the above models can work. People have made them work.

Most courses out there discuss one or a few of the above models. It's not often I discover much that is new in a course (free or paid). Most of the info you can buy is available for free on this forum.

Probably the number one reason people don't succeed is they jump from one model to another. I've fallen for this many times (fortunately I stuck it out with a few models that ended up working and carried on with them).

It's natural to jump around a little in the beginning to get a feel for how it all works and looking for a model that works for you. BUT once you find something that appeals to you and that matches your skillset, put together a plan and focus on it until you get results. Assess your results to see what works and build up on the things you do that actually works (i.e. earns money).

Don't fall for the "there's only one way to make money online."

Regardless of which model you choose, when it comes to attracting traffic, work to acquire traffic from different sources. Many people (me included initially) acquire traffic from the organic search engines. I love organic search engine traffic, but the search engine results can change dramatically. Just do a search in Google for "Google Penguin" to see what I'm referring to. It can kill a business quickly ... and this is one reason many people emphasize building a list no matter your model. With a list you have traffic or an audience any time you like if done well. E-mail marketing a topic all on its own and no matter which model you choose is worth studying and working on from the start.

The above models approach internet marketing from a "how can I make money" perspective which is what most of us do. However, if you try to approach from a "how can I solve peoples' problems" (or a problem or help in some way), it's probably a better mindset because you're immediately thinking of how to add value for someone.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of how to get started, but it's something to chew on and investigate further.

The frustrating thing, especially when doing this internet marketing thing on the side, is you spend a lot of your disposable time at it. It's addicting, frustrating and exhilarating. If when you get started you get the bug, you'll probably succeed because you'll plow through mistakes and failures.

And if/when you go full time, you may find that you spend as much time at it as you did working your 9 to 5 job. I do. Maybe more ... especially as you continue to build. BUT, there's no substitute for being your own boss, working when you want to, working on projects you choose to work on and of course helping other people with what you do. It's the best job I've ever had, but it's not without its problems and challenges.

My advice for you is choose one thing and stick with it.

Because there are so many people on this forum using different strategies that have been successful for them, its tempting to drop everything you are doing and take up what they have done. But avoid that at all costs. You don't want to fall into the trap of jumping from one strategy to another, and then to another, and then another.

Small focused consistent steps will get you to where you want to go, better than inconsistent unfocused big steps anyday.

My second piece of advice for you is to find a way for yourself to return to a place of clarity and focus. No this is not mystical mumbo-juimbo.

Here is what I mean. Being on this forum at some time in the future you are going to run into "information overload" There are going to be so many people talking about different things, different strategies, different techniques, using different words that you might not have heard before, some will be saying article marketing is the best things, and others will be saying no it's not it's a waste of time, and others will say you need to have an OTO, where more will say no OTO's are no longer effective, etc.

It can lead to you wanting to pull out your hair and scratch your eyeballs, lol.

So figure out a way that helps you deal with this potential information overload and get persepctive again.

For me personally, what I do is when ever I find a post that gives me perspective and allows me to see the big picture I bookmark or copy and paste it into word.

Then if I am in information overload I will pull out that post, or article and read it. Works for me everytime.

As an example use the search function and search for a woman names "Nightengale" she just replied to a post a few days ago caled "I have 300 and I want to start newbie"
Her post is such great advice for someone just starting out. and she is right most people make things too complicated. Her posts simlpifies things. Check it out.

So find a way to help you deal with information overload.

and make sure to just choose one business model and focus on it.

It's good that you already have decent income and you can take time to learn. Do that first and you won't get frustrated and quit like many do.

And please be careful when deciding what programs to invest in, I had to learn that the hard way.

If you'll excuse a dissenting voice, my own impression is that not one person in 1,000 who starts off with internet marketing and works hard is earning $3-$4k monthly "within a couple of months".

In fact I strongly suspect that probably not one person in 10,000 is earning that "within a couple of months".

It took me 5 - 6 months to get to that income level, and I was one the very luckiest, as I was explaining in this recent conversation: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6800665 . I'm not saying this simply because it took me that long, but more because of my awareness that the overwhelming majority never achieve that income level.

In any case, "working hard" isn't the primary determinant of most people's income levels, with internet marketing.

Many people work very hard and take plenty of action, but have set off in the wrong direction (there are hundreds of those, and there are reasons for that) and never achieve even a fraction of that income. And that comment applies particularly to those who try to "follow something" promoted with an income claim.

Apologies if I sound negative - I'm just trying to "keep it real".

These few people are mostly promoting something in their signature-files on the basis of an income claim. Their "opportunities" even sometimes have words like "cash", "gold", "wealth" and so on in either the title or the url. All big red flags. :p

I haven't, but people who don't like someone's posts can always put them on "ignore" in their profile options, or whatever it's called? (I think I have nobody left on "ignore" now: all three of the people I've previously "ignored", over the years - as obvious trolls - ended up permanently banned! ).

Edited to add ... ah, ok, I've seen it now. Well, he had a point about the thread concerned. I did express myself very badly in that thread. Not exactly "my finest hour".

I found that getting to a certain income was very very tough and it took me a long time. I would like to think I can pick things up quickly, but it did get discouraging.

However, once I DID get to a sustainable income per month I found acceptable, it was very easy to grow and grow quickly. But getting to that point was a long and tiresome journey filled with self doubt (and some occasional alcohol infused pity parties:rolleyes

It is sooooo easy to get sucked into the "make money quick" vortex. It's much harder to accept the fact that it's not real...like golden unicorns and world peace.
