Need help customizing marketing campaign to fit my skillset.

HI everyone,

I have been a member here for quite a while but I haven't participated. I tried some IM in 2010 with Bum Marketing and quit after a few months due to my job. I never made any real money while attempting IM with the Bum Marketing strategy. At the time, I was using clickbank to make money through affiliate marketing. I wrote a few articles and set up a few blogs and left them alone. I did not put much effort into IM during that time. Now, I would like to make a serious effort to figure this thing out. By the way, is clickbank still worth using? Is it better to use Amazon or another marketing affiliate?

My skills: I have great writing skills, above average IT knowledge, and well versed in finance and numbers.

Is blogging for money still a good option? Has article writing changed that much in the last 2 years? Are facebook ads still worth it? What do you consider the best options for my marketing campaign, given the brief description of my skills?

None of the IM methods have to be free. However, I would like to keep my costs low. I'm on a bit of a shoestring budget.

Right now, I feel as if writing articles and blogging are my best option, but I still want to know what everyone thinks about blogging now. I have considered offering writing services, as well. Also, I have been thinking about flipping websites.

Feel free to ask any questions or point me any direction that can be of help.

Thanks,

CJ

If you have great writing skills, find a a small evergreen niche (like a specific health issue or something) and write some quality, well researched content on it, it's easier to get page 1 on google now than it ever was. Once you're established you can put affiliate links or even an informational product of your own on your website to start generating substantial revenue.

Sounds to me like your strengths are a natural for creating your own products! e-books, Kindle, video, YouTube - all very lucrative if you apply them in an evergreen niche you like and one that has proven potential to monetize well.

A little brainstorming is in order! What is it you'd really like to do? Where do you want to go with this?

Dragonfire and Henry, thank you very much for the responses! Dragonfire, I am leaning toward finding a great niche, as you described, to make a website and market through it. I'm thinking about setting up multiple sites with different niches to start a steady stream of revenue. Do you run multiple sites, Dragonfire?

Henry, I have definitely thought about making ebooks eventually. Right now, I am just looking to get this IM campaign off the ground and making some money. My first goal is to get to a steady stream of about $1,000 a month. Overall, it would be best, for me, running multiple blogs/sites to earn money marketing. I would still like to look at some of the other IM options that are out there too. I am going to research copywriting while I start out in some of the areas I am more familiar with.

Do either of you have facebook ads or anything similar? Are there any other techniques either of you recommend? What is the best source for affiliates that I can market products for? Also, are there any articles or threads you recommend that I read?

    Thanks,

    CJ

Another thing you might want to look into is copy writing. It can be very lucrative. If you look around on the forum you can download Jason Fladliens "Defining moments" MP3 for free. He is one of the best and averages 200k a month. Or check out his website for some nice freebie guides.

Paleruby, thanks for the information. I looked around for Jason's MP3 but no luck yet. I did, however, find his website. I will keep looking around on the forums for more information.

Copy writing is something I have been looking into. So, we'll see how the copy writing research goes.

    Thanks for your help.
