I have plenty of fans/subscribers to things I teach. I provide lessons for free, as well as not for free (the best ones are not free).

It's about playing an instrument, and many of these people buy and sell equipment related to playing this instrument.

I have an affiliation with a big online store, that sells this kind of equipment. They often send discount codes and offers to their affiliates.

Here's my thought. Since some of my fans will not like me blasting offers (if they are more into the lessons rather than the gear), I was thinking I could send out a ONE TIME message to ALL of them, saying "if you are interested in getting special discounts and deals from the store X, sign up here".

Some of my fans WILL be interested in buying stuff, but I think it's a bad idea to blast them all with offers, and get a lot of unsubscribes as a result.

I would set up another list in aweber, and anytime I get these affiliate offers/deals sent to me, I blast them on the list. Hopefully some will then buy, since they signed up to the list for that specific purpose.

Thoughts and feedback?

I think I'll have to make sure I write a good message when I blast out that ONE TIME message ("sign up here if you want to get notified of special deals at store X", or similar).

    I think that's a good idea.

You will only have people who expressed an interest and are therefore highly targeted.

Your idea is very good, I would give it a try.

As RogueOne said, you have highly targeted people which are hungry to buy some stuff you blast out. Try it!

You are right, sending all people those are not interested will unsubscribe so, making another list will help you to get more potential clients without losing them.

Great idea. If all else fails you have a opt in list to market.

You do not have to send out an email like that to try and get people to sign up to another list. You are just going to lose people because you are trying to make them choose.

Try doing something like this instead.

Write an article on your site about how because of your position in this market, you often get the opportunity to take advantage of discounts that you can pass along to others.

Create a section on your site where you can talk about the discounts and deals you can get to pass along to others. Write a few articles about various discounts in this section.

Write to your list and tell them what you have done. Tell them that you know how much they love what they do, and how much you love them reading their emails and tell them you have set up this special deals and discounts section just for them because they mean so much to you and you know how good it is to save money these days. And invite them to partake of this really excellent thing you have set up for them.

You have created a lot of good will, you have given something they really could take advantage of in their lives and you have strengthened the bond between you and you have come off as a very good guy.

        Everybody wins.

Try it out and see. Time will be on your side. If it proves to be profitable, roll with it. If it proves to be unprofitable, cut it loose then move on to another idea immediately.

Perhaps I should also tell them that this is a way to support me and my website as well, since I get a small commission. If they had planned on buying something anyway, going through my site will save THEM money AND they will support me at the same time. Sounds like a good idea to write this on my site?

If you are selling affiliate products on your site, you do need to let your visitors know that you make a commission for that.

You do not need to apologize for that or ask them to support you. Just tell them what you are doing. It's not like the internet is back in the day of the blog tip jar anymore, this is a normal part of internet life, and if you approach it from the point of view that you are helping them get something great, there will be people who think you are awesome for doing that. So let yourself be awesome.
