Do you think anybody would buy this?

Hello Warriors,

I used to run a successful online Ecommerce business trading mostly on Ebay for many years and we have recently ceased trading in 2011. I'm strongly considering writing an ebook to sell on my self-hosted website or a kindle ebook which would act as a guidebook for people wanting to startup an Ebay business ie. where to look for suppliers, what to sell, how to sell, how to reinvest, dealing with ebay customers, competition, software automation etc etc etc.

My question is, assuming that I can provide good value and maybe around 100-150 pages of quality information do you think people would be willing to pay money for it. And if so, how much do you think something like that should be selling for? - I know information like this would be invaluable assuming no prior ecommerce experience which is why I want to do this!

IM isn't really my forte so please your opinions would be very helpful!

Thanks,

Andrew

With a 150 pages of solid content on starting an Ebay business, I don't see why people would not be interested. I think an ebook like that would easily go for somewhere around 25-30 dollars. Assuming I would be interested in starting my own little business with Ebay, I would probably get it no questions asked.

I certainly believe people will be interested, including myself.

The difficulty with selling things online, as you are probably well aware, requires at least some "social proof" before people will REALLY start biting on your book/product. It sounds like, with 100-150 pages, that you could really offer a tremendous amount of value...so, with great sales copy, and solid review/testimonials, I definitely think people would be willing to purchase something like this. Don't be hesitant to give out a few free "review copies" in the onset of selling this....Since I began online, I've learned what at least seems to be a serious resistance of anyone, to buy anything, unless they read other's reviews first.

    Hi ebaytrader;

Alot of the information in ebooks are already on the internet somewhere but when you get people to listen to you they see you as a authority figure and will more than likely buy from you because of the trust they have in you.

As for as the price you would just have to test a few diffrent price point out but remember just because you price cheap know that you will be leaving money on the table because cheap is not always what sales. Most poeple think when a product is cheap it has no perceived value.

Also with the post i read above you seem to be an expert on the topic so that should show your readers you know what you are talking about perceived valve goes along ways at least to me it does hope this helps.

I would put it together, run a WSO offering it for free, get some feedback, tweek accordingly, then offer a WSO actually selling the product. By then you should have some positive feedback from the product, enticing wore Warriors to click the buy button.

Most people looking to buy ebooks on eBay have already dabbled a bit and the are looking for how to become profitable doing so. Typically, they are looking for current product sourcing techniques. You can add customer service and other basic information to add additional value to your book, but start with the premise they are looking for what to sell.

Assuming the information is good, something would like that would sell for sure. Getting the marketing right is going to be the key to whether it's a success.

You might try and JV with a 'name' marketer, to give you the social proof and guidance you need. Let them take care of the marketing and you focus on the product.

As someone who sold over $140 million worth of eBay info-products and coaching, (on TV) I can tell you that there IS a market for "How To eBay" products.

I would strongly recommend that you determine what sets you apart from the dozens of other eBay authors out there and use those things as your "Unique Selling Proposition".

Since I first wrote my "Beyond eBay" eBook back in 2000, and then "Auctions For Income" (the eBay infomercial product that sold 300,000 copies) the market has been flooded with eBay books, most of which say pretty much the same thing - here's how to list, photograph, ship, leave feedback, etc.

Fortunately, I was able to differentiate myself because, while I did teach that, I really focused a lot more on product sourcing strategies for my students. That was what differentiated me (and still does) from the rest of the eBay experts - and what ultimately gives students more value.

I agree with Mark Alan, above. If you can give great tips on product sourcing, that will really help you stand out from the crowd.

Also, you are teaching your own hard-earned experience, too, which can also have a lot of value to a lot of people.

As long as you look for ways to give value, your product will be in demand!

How hard is it to sell something on eBay? Chances are that there are lots of similar or identical items just like yours offered for sale. Doing a search produces a long list. If you're a merchant, you need to study all the ads, discard the chaff and find a median price for most sales. Most often there's a catch with the lowest priced item (i.e, inflated shipping), so try to stay above that, and write a decent, trustworthy ad, with good pics and a detailed description. That, and a bit of common sense, is just about all it takes...

    Hi.

I do not mean to dishearten you in anyway. But I like to be honest and state things as they are. The point is there are already many ebooks on such a subject. So consider that you do start writing the ebook or you get someone to do it for you. After that you would be confronted by your biggest hurdle….

How are you going to get people to buy your ebook?

Sure, you will find many people saying that it would be easy for you to sell your book on Amazon and all that kind of stiff, but try to do so and see what happens.

Once again, I do not mean to dishearten you, just saying it how it is.

    All the best. Regards.

I can't wee why people interesting in the subject would not buy it. Just like any other product you must get it in front the right audience and there's probably where the real challenge is for you.

This is how I would start.
    1. Create a REALLY good product(of course).
    2. Contact people(in a professional way) that has previously created ebay products and ask them to review/promote. They can be software creators or info product creators, as long as they have a list to promote it to. YOU NEED THESE CONTACTS!

    Just do it ...
