What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone.

I need some thoughts please. I'm relatively new to IM and as yet I just can't seem to get anything to work. I've tried:

1) Wrote an ebook in a good "not over populated" niche and got it onto Clickbank with upsells. After 6 months, only a couple of sales.

2) Bought a plr ebook and site, got it on Clickbank. After 5 months, 1 sale.

3) Offering gigs on Fiverr for proof reading and blog entering. No requests.

4) Bought and tried an affiliate blog website system. After a month, not on page 1 of Google, hardly any visitors and you guessed it, no sales.

I really need a mentor but don't know anyone else in the game. I'm trying to remain upbeat but it's tough when everything I try just fails.

Any advice for a newbie?

I know those feelings man it can be very hard sometimes to get ahead. You really just gotta keep pushing sounds like you are off to a good start. Have you tried paid advertisement for your goods? Is your SOE squared away maybe some more work there would help. I am sure though there are a lot of users here that can give you a hand this place is packed with info and for the most part people are willing to help. Good luck and stay strong buddy.

Thanks Mmoice. I'm pretty confident in the seo, and yes I tried Google Adwords but the cost was soaring so I had to stop.

I know people say it takes time, but things don't even show signs of picking up, and I keep getting tempted but WSOs but feel like I'm being duped a lot of the time.

I understand it's a hard game, but it would just be nice to see one of the ventures working!!

Could you elaborate on SEO endeavours?

I understand the idea of keeping to one spectrum, but after 6 months of Clickbank failures I had to try something else. I'd be happy to stick to one, if I could get one to work!!

I would recommend a look through Pat Flynn's blog.

Let me say that I admire that you have jumped out and actually done something. You are probably closer to more sales than you are aware of at the moment.

How many affiliates did you recruit to promote those 2 Clickbank offers? Affiliates deliver traffic. How many banner ads do you have out there? How many forum posts in related forums have you made? How many blogs have you commented on? How many articles have you syndicated? How many Youtube videos have you made? How many newsletters have you advertised in? In other words, how much traffic did you drive to those 2 Clicbank offers in 6 months? Because that's what it's all going to come down to....traffic. If you can't drive traffic, nothing is going to work for you.

So, my question is, did you really fail, or did you barely get started?

If you REALLY want help, post one or both of your Clickbank sites. That's the only way to get legitimate, informed advice that can help you. And don't give us that I-don't-want-to-reveal-my-niche-because-you're-not-supposed-to-do-that crap that gets peddled around here by the posers. You've already written them off as failures, so what do you have to lose?

Haha I like your frank style.

Ok, to answer your questions. I guess traffic was my issue because I didn't "recruit" affiliates (how do you do this??). No forum posts (I thought you weren't allowed to do that here), no blog comments or articles syndicated (what does this mean?). 1 YouTube video. No newsletters. You see, I guess I relied on Adwords too too much!

I would put my two products on, but I don't have 15 posts so cannot post URLs here. However, I hope I won't annoy the mods, but they are both dot co dot uk domains, the first is misdirectionmagic and the other is easy-diet-plan. You should be able to get to them now! I hope it's okay to put those here, if not, sorry.

I guess as you say, I never really got started!

Your thread looks like it was made to get a "paid guru" response ad. So I just made sure that doesn't happen by pointing out that some people do (like myself) coach for free. Too many call and response ads already on WF main forum

Why do I coach for free? Because I was in your position too. Many people are too demotivated or lazy to learn for themselves so I offer free coaching. The only 2 catches are - you can't be lazy and actually execute what I tell you and my time is limited since I have businesses to run.

If you're looking for people who tell it like it is and give REAL info, I am one of them.

It looks like generating traffic is a bit of a problem for you
since you got only a few sales on clickbank. If you have
some money, you can always start testing paid traffic.
Start small though. You can end up wasting lots of money.

And try focusing on one thing until you succeed, instead
of doing several things at the same time.

What niche are you in? What is your sales letter page? What methods are you using to drive traffic to your website? Does your site "hint" at the fact that you want visitors to buy something?

      Hi Randall.

I have two standard type sales pages, one with an email optin too. I've used natural seo as well as Google Adwords. Also used twitter to post out info, but having used Fiverr to get 3000 twitter followers I'm beginning to think they are bots.

And don't hint, they explicitly state how to buy the products. I used a sales page template for them. Is that incorrect?

Exactly what kind of budget are you willing to put into your endeavors? If you're willing to put down a few hundred dollars, you could try your hand at PPC marketing(Facebook, POF, etc.). With the right guidance from the right people, its relatively easy to double or triple your money in a short amount of time.

Internet Marketing despite what others may tell you is very slow to get rolling. If you can throw some stable income into the mix by doing eBay, Amazon Marketplace or something else that already comes with a customer base built in I'd suggest that. On your ClickBank stuff as a solo new guy I think you are going to find those results to be typical on product launches. you need to have enough success yourself to show your product converts well and that way it will attract other affiliates.

It's easy to get frustrated when it looks like nothing is working.

Let's start with that first product you put on Clickbank. What else have you done to promote it? Have you sought out possible affiliates? Written articles, made videos, bought traffic? Anything?

Contrary to what many people believe (and Clickbank does nothing to correct them), just putting a product on CB's marketplace does not guarantee sales or that there are thousands of affiliates just waiting to go out and promote your product.

It also appears that you may have to adjust your expectations. Contrary to the headlines on Get Rich Quick offers (Make a Gazillion Dollars by Lunch Time Without Lifting a Finger, Even If You Can Barely Fog a Mirror), instant or overnight success is usually a fluke. And that kind of fluke often disappears as quickly as it appears.

Just ask the guys who used to get their Adsense checks delivered by UPS, and are now working for UPS...

      Hi Mark.

Thanks. I'm trying the Amazon Marketplace at the moment. Finding a good niche is tough and I'm building a blog around it but I know this method will be a slow builder.

Not sure how I'd go about IM via EBay though. Can you advise?

it sounds like you have step one mastered step 1 creating an offer.

However there are more steps to the process, you have to then begin to actively promote your offer, and send consistent traffic to the offer.

Develop a daily traffic/marketing plan to actually begin spreading the word about your offers on a massive scale.

You have to do more than just create an offer, you have to spread the word about it daily.

Maybe you are doing a lot of different money making strategies all at the same time. Try focusing on something that you know works and stick to it.

  • Get with one thing and stick with it until you are successful with it THEN move on to the next thing. And remember there is always more involved than meets the eye.

For example.. Clickbank product 1 sale..

Hows your sales copy look? Are you split testing? Are you targeting your keywords correctly? Whats your CPC? Do you offer a OTO?

There much more to it...Stick with it.. work hard on it and after your first successful project is gets easier.

    Dont give up!

Split testing, CPC, OTO, these are all new to me! Honestly, no idea on the answers (yet). I have not split test, don't know what my CPC is, and don't fully understand OTO. Research time!

The guy that wrote/created the "truthaboutabs" product on clickbank, made maybe 1-2 sales in the first 1-2 years. Now hes making 1 mill a month. Don't give up so easily and jump from opportunities to opportunities. Stick with something and make it work.

I think you are very close to clickbank success. I don't think you should try something else. Just change your strategy, not change the direction. If you always change the direction, you can hardly get to the destination. Because every time you change your aim to another, you go back to your starting point and start again. So you waste more time and effort. Figure out what was wrong of your last try and then use a better strategy to try again. Don't think your last try as a fail. Every time you try, you are closer to success.

And when you use some method to drive traffic, don't forget to focus. For example, if you decide to do twitter marketing, focus on this method until you get massive traffic. You probably can't get good result at first. But that doesn't mean you should move to another method, such as article marketing. It's clever that you know you need to make some change the next time. But the only change you need to make is the way of doing twitter marketing. After several times of improvement, you will find the right way of doing twitter marketing finally. And you succeed.

Start small, stick to one method - once your earning you can start to think about other methods

Go to amazon.co.uk / amazon.com sign up for associates (affiliate program)
Create list of 50 hot products (keywords) that retail for £100+
Use Google Keyword Tool, Paste list and make sure you check
    - Match Types - "Exact" - uncheck Broad
    - Advanced Options and Filters -> Filter ideas -> Global Monthly Searches => 1000
    - Click Add Another, Select Competition -> Low, Medium
    - Hit Search, Copy Results, check GoDaddy for any exact match domains
    - Buy domain
    - Set up wordpress e-store, work on seo and traffic

    Hi Magiclint,

Have you looked at list building?

You have proven that you are commited to put in some hard effort and commitment.

I always say that anything you do to make money online is going to take time and consistent effort.

So I always encourage people to build a list and as they can then have an opportunity to build strong realtionships to masses of people on a consistent basis.

Feel free to download my list building report to get you started.

All the best & good luck with your future efforts my friend!!!

Indeed. I tried originally with a squeeze page and got a list of around 70 subscribers by using Adwords to drive traffic to it. Problem was I didn't really know how to monetize that then.

I am a web programmer by trade, so have actually spent the last few weeks developing my own autoresponder as I don't like the limitations of MailChimp, or the cost of Aweber. All I need to do now is find a good niche to create a squeeze page for that I can then build a list with. The evergreen niches such as weight loss and making money seem so saturated, so it's hard to find ways to make myself stand out.

I also bought OptimizePress, so plan to use that soon. Like I say, I just need the find a good niche.

Yeah I understand this principle. The problem I had was that after 6 months, nothing was happening with the Clickbank bits. How long do you give it? I tried something else because I was twiddling my thumbs!

You can make money in any of these areas...it's not that they don't work...you are jumping around too much..stick with the one area that interests you the most...then master that...the problem is when we don't see a result right away...we think..oh that doesnt work then go for the next quick fix.....

    2. SEO your website step by step. ( backlinks, png, traffic, ads promotion...)
    3. Rewrite your description on Clickbank or on any affiliate program
    4. Use forum posting and Social network posting ( target forums - ebook forums, internet marketing forums, Fanpage, ebook facebook groups...)

And... Get yur new result !

Can I ask, with regards to the method of targetting forums, is the process that you simply submit a post with an ad to your site, or are you supposed to participate and add links to your site in your footers and sigs?

I have had many years of success in Internet Marketing. I may be new to the Warrior forum but I am buy no means new to the Internet Marketing Business. I would never charge someone a fee to help them out. If you would like some tips and ideas just hit me up.

Trying to find a unique niche can be difficult. Going for the big niches where the is plenty of room to play in is good precisely because you can make money easy enough. Believe me, cold hard cash in your hands is better than most anything, and helps keep you from going crazy trying to be "original" in the Internet. Trying to reinvent the wheel is similarly profitable

It depends on the forum and its policies.

For example, posting ads here (outside of the designated areas) usually means a whack with the ban hammer. While real participation with an allowable link in your sig will be rewarded if you have a good sig.

If you find a forum that might have members in your target market, follow these three steps:
      1. Read the Terms of Use
      2. Read the forum rules
      3. Lurk until you understand the flow and feel of the forum culture.

Man you should start having a niche websie. do keyword search and pick up a low competition keyword with around 5000-10000 exact matches, build an 8-10 pages website around this keyword, do on page SEO, do penguin safe backlinking [ you might need just 30 links], add content every week, and you will rank in 2 months. after ranking start monetizing your website with google adsense and clickbank . You can also have an autoresponder to start building a list in your niche. This will gurantee future sales also. You might think that this is a lot of work, but believe me this method works. You have been trying and failing for more than 6 months now. Give what i am telling you a try and stop buying more products. just invest any money you are planning to pay into your new website. Invest in more content and more high PR links.

Sounds like your on the right track but you need traffic. Patience is key and that's especially true in Affiliate Marketing.

Start by doing a video of your product on YouTube. Also upload an article on it to Google+. Be sure to use your keywords in your title. You will be amazed on how much love you get in the organic SERP's.

You are on the right track; you only need to tweak things a little and drive traffic. Give high premium on traffic generation to your offers. If you choose good niches that convert, focus on traffic by trying different methods to determine the best for your offers and keep doing what worked for you. In addition, try to exploit the potentials of this forum by joining War Room where you can network with many pros in IM who are willing to assist you in your business. Best of luck !
