The real cost of a free product

I just clicked on one of the banners that shows up top of the forum. The sniping on real people got my curiosity up. I was taken to a George Brown presentation pitching his Google Sniper 'for free'.

I thought WOW, isn't that supposed to be a pretty good program? And he is giving it away for free? So I watched the rest of the video.

Eventually he started saying he wanted a donation, and I thought I was going to be asked to cough up what I could afford, or maybe what I thought it was worth, I wasn't sure.

Eventually he tells me the cost he is asking, and it is $47 for this free program.

I'm so confused

I don't remember if the George Brown program was a good one or not. The video is enticing, as it was made by the expert marketer George Brown. But I am a bit pissed off because of the way he talks about free and then phases into $47.

Is it worth $47? Who knows? Maybe some of you do because you have purchased it. If so, I would love to hear from you. But that wasn't the purpose of this post, the purpose was to talk about the free product being $47 and how I find that to be somewhat offensive.

Edit: I am still on the fence about buying it. I just can't make up my mind.

I can completely agree that that shouldn't be allowed. Jesus, good sales tactic but a bad one if you get me.

" ... if it seems too good to be true." Right?

Nonetheless, I just looked the video too. If I am not mistaken, it says the webinar is free. Not the product itself (unless I missed something be said within the video??).

Although, the so-called "webinar" is nothing more than a sales video (aren't they all?).

EDIT: I have purchased Google Sniper (though, it was several 'versions' ago). Personally, I enjoyed ClickBank Profit Storm (not an affiliate link) better. CB Profit Storm, as a WSO, is closed ... I am not sure if Andrew ever opened it up elsewhere or not.

I wondered if I had misunderstood something. But I couldn't wind it back to hear it again. It is the cleaver use of words that make the super salesman.

But doesn't it always come down to finding a good sales page, find high traffic low competition key words and put up a site to drive traffic. It is always the finding high traffic and low competition part that gives me the biggest problem. Someone suggested a program the other day, Long Tail Pro I think it was called. I am thinking about it, but it costs $97, which for me is something I have to be real sure of. I don't have that much money, and very high medical expenses every month.

I totally agree. Something should be FREE or NOT.... not some deception designed to get you to read whatever they have on offer and then make you pay if you want it.
Personally I think that isn't marketing, that's cheating and it is one thing I hate above most other things when it comes to products and services being bought and sold because it shows that person doesn't care about other people or their own reputation.

I guess it depends on how recent it is. The first versions of GS are almost useless now because of all the slapping Google has done. The whole concept of exploiting the SEs for quick traffic and quick money is on the way out anyway. Maybe this guy is just trying to grab whatever he can before the herd figures that out. Of course, some will never get it.

Deceiving. Some people know no limits when it comes to that paper.
