Boy oh boy! I used to be the first one to sing Squidoo's praises..... But with these new filters in place that all lenses must go through prior to publication....You have to jump through hoops to create an attractive lens that can generate affiliate traffic AND still be allowed to be published on squidoo. Especially with the "affiliate product review" lens, you really have to walk on eggshells to create a lens that will get you decent traffic without getting locked out by Squidoo....Low keyword density, unique, informative content, and multiple modules and still I get the dreaded "Spam Warning" prior to publishing the lens. Not to b^%ch and moan, but it really stinks how a few bad apples ruin it for us all...That must be why Squidoo has really tightened up on what's acceptable for publication. Anyone else experiencing this kind of frustrations?...I guess I've come full circle since I probably will go back to EzineArticles more heavily, like when I first started out, and just backlink to my EzineArticles articles instead of Squidoo lenses. I'd love to hear your secrets if you know how to work with these filters because I am losing my mind....Please tell me how I can keep my sanity! |

You have no idea. It's weird, because I'll do a lens on something like the losing man boobs niche, and that gets flagged for spambait, but then I'll do a lens on losing cold sores naturally...and that one goes through fine. I wish that they would give us some kind of idea or criteria on how they judge whether or not a lens is 'spambait'. From my experience, it all just seems really random. While Squidoo can do whatever they want with their service, what they are doing is collective punishment...and that is wrong. |

Joshua, You hit it on the head.....Squidoo posts guidelines on spambait and yet I see some published lenses that do not adhere to them and others that do - There is no consistency! It is really a shame because I think Squidoo has a lot of customizable options for lenses which would make for a better experience for the poster....and the reader! But at this rate, I'll have to settle for the plain ol' text layout at Ezine.....Oh well! |

I think I am not the one who is annoyed with them,I build 3 lense so far and find no complaint about them, and about "getting flagged by them,I think they do this to keep there site clean.

My wife builds a lot of lenses and has been bitching about squidoo a lot lately under her breath. Guess I know why now. She was also complaining about that she would login, create a lens and then when she clicked publish it brought her to the signup page. Re's Rob Whisonant |

Not that I have published many lenses but so far had no trouble. I write as if I am talking to people in front of me rather than a marketing spiel. Maybe that makes a difference. I also put in links to my blogs and ezine articles rather than web pages and give unique information. Norma |

If you don't want to get caught in the spam filter, write lenses about something that isn't in this list.

I also have problems with squidoo, its just that you need to pass though the eye of the needle so that you can post lenses on the site. i don't know why squidoo is doing that.

Same on this end. Another "quirk" -- it would say the URL was taken, so we'd try and try and try again, over and over to find possible URLs...only to find ALL were available and Squidoo had created one for each of those we'd tried all along, geez...then we had to go back and delete a whole bunch. Another quirk: we'd create an entire lens, publish, and it would disappear. So back up, folks

I'm an affiliate marketer that promotes a ClickBank product. I recently created a Squidoo lens reviewing one of these products as a way to promote my business and build authority. My article was informative, well written and had ample custom made graphics and contained a professional YouTube video that I produced. Despite the fact that my lens did not violate any of their policies and the fact that it had a perfect "health" score my lens was tagged as Spam Bait. I meticulously reviewed *all* of their policies and the content of my lens did not violate any single one of them. There was no reason given as to why my article was considered spam bait. If they would have told me what was wrong then I could have fixed it to their liking. So I opted to get my site reviewed by someone at Squidoo and it was rejected. No reason give. Nothing. Hour of work spent crafting my article down the drain all thanks to a unfair, unhelpful and unresponsive approval system and one anonymous person who rejected my article. Similar articles I see on the exact same subject are poorly written with dubious content yet they are "approved". Something is very wrong in today's business model when you can't even speak to a real human being via email or even via phone about appealing a decision. YouTube and other Web2.0 companies operate in this same impersonal and detached way with zero customer support. I'm very disappointed with Squidoo. |
