Do I really need to be on Google+?

With last month's report that Google+ is growing but is struggling with engagement, I found myself wondering what does it really offer that is different to Facebook or Twitter.

I help manage a Facebook page for a Business School in Australia, we were extremely slow to jump onboard that bandwagon but nothing suggests that Google+ is worth getting involved in. I'm happy to be convinced otherwise.

The more social networks you are on the better. Google+ is growing more and more but the main demographic on it is men. Just as the main demographic for Pinterest is women....which is you are trying to advertise to just solely men or women it is great to have both of these social networks!

What your page is all about?
Does your page intended only to people who have facebook and twitter accounts?
How can someone who don't have facebook or twitter account find your page?

With Google+, you are expanding your network to other people who are not familiar with your page...

I believe the main ideas behind the facebook page were to share news and events with current and prospective students as well as alumni. To give the school a bit of personality and create a better relationship with students. Its run by the school's marketing department but I'm a contributor.

Meh. I know of one connection using Google plus. Outside of IM people? Literally no one. I don't think you'll miss much personally.

I wouldn't neglect Google+, or any other social network that has traffic. There's an audience at all of them.
