processing paypal orders

Hi there

Just wondering if its any simple way to process paypal orders.
Let`s say someone is buying my ebook and paying using paypal button on my website.
How to set an automated response to his email with link to download ebook and how to set time after the link expires ?
How to avoid "jamming" the system if large amount of customers using it in the same time ?

Have you thought of asking Paypal? Seeing it IS their system after all?

Must be a country thing then. Here in Australia, I can ring Paypal and they answer within a minute or 2 and then we resolve the issue straightaway.

You can ring Paypal UK but they are based in Ireland. They should be a number on the site somewhere....

I don't think there is a thing called "jamming" in Paypal. With hundreds of thousands to programmers who workr with PP, do you think they are not prepared for that? As others have suggested, use ejunkie for full automation.

This is the best way I have found to do what you are trying to do:

On the page with the button, make sure you tell your buyers to sign up on the success page after payment. Create a success page for after payment that has a sign up form connected to your email autoresponder (There are free ones like mailchimp, or you can pay for one like aweber. Mailchimp does not allow Make Money Online niche).

After they purchase the ebook or whatever, they are immediately redirected to the page that says "Please enter your name and email in order to receive your copy of said ebook". When they sign up, they get the email with the link or download to the ebook.

But you have to make sure your paypal payment button actually redirects buyers to that page after a purchase. It is very important that you do this correctly, otherwise your buyers will not be redirected to your sign up page. You have to do a setting in your paypal account and also add a line of code to your paypal button. I wrote a blog post with specific steps: Redirect Buyers to Your Site After PayPal Purchase - Blog and Retire

    Hope this helps

As already mentioned, try e-junkie, because the paypal's automated system(thank you page) sucks, as many people close the page before it re-directs them.

Or email me, I have a free script, which I can email you, its really easy to set up on a server with a members section for your ebook download links.

I have not had a problem with anyone closing the page before it redirects. If you warn them ahead of time (on the page where the pay button is) that they have to sign up on the success page after payment, or they will not receive their product, then people tend to pay attention to that.

Smallbusinesstoolkit. I am not sure about setting a timer. Please explain. Are you wanting to set a length of time that the ebook is downloadable? Say, for 7 days and then it expires? Also, I am curious as to why you would want to do that, and not make it available indefinitely (since they did purchase it from you).

Its different with different products and the transaction amount. I had never problems with people paying a lot for a product, because they take their time to read stuff, but when you get many cheap orders, then its easy for the above to happen. For me, 1-3 people out of 10 just didn't wait and then either emailed me angry why they didn't receive anything or made a paypal claim right away. Thats why I rather set up a script on each of my domains to handle this.

I bought the DLguard shopping cart system. It does everything that you are looking for and a lot more. You have to spend a bit of time setting it set up, but the instructions they provide are really great. I haven't had to use it, but I hear their customer service is also top notch. It is an investment at $147, but I've been really happy with it. You can do a google search for dlg shopping cart system and find their web page.

It's not the cheapest solution and there's definitely a bit of a learning curve, but DLGuard is awesome. It does everything the OP asked for and more, including basic memberships and software licensing (and works with more payment processors than just PayPal).

Their customer support is great. The only problem I've ever had is the time difference, Sam lives halfway across the world from me so sometimes it takes half a day to get an answer, but he's always been really helpful any time I had a question or a problem with the software.

good point. Not fun to get lots of emails from mad people -- at least you can say you told them so though, lol!

Maybe you can try to setup a Wordpress shopping cart plugin ? some are not very technical and free. You just plug your Paypal keys in there and you'll have a nice customed page to return to your customers, it might even be worth it to hire somebody on a freelancing website to set it up for you for a 20 / 30 usd

I used Linklok for Paypal/ on my static ecommerce site for years before porting the whole thing to Wordpress. Still use it to generate one-off download links. It's about $35.00 with great support. They have versions for other processors as well.

If you can edit HTML, you can easily set it up. Ties in with Paypal IPN for secure delivery of links.

    Just my $.02.

    Hi,

You can set up by creating the paypal 'buy now' button with advanced option whereby it will redirect your customer to download page after they had effected the payment.

If you wanted to collect customer name and email address, I suggest you sign up aweber and redirect the page to download page. Customer key in name and email address only can download your ebook.

    Hope this help

    Thanks

I also use DLGuard. I also use and like DAP. I like membership sites now so using OptimizePress with DAP is an excellent choice!
