I see lots of questions like "How do I do such-and-such with OpenOffice?", "I think my computer has a virus" and "Which hardware should I buy?" Should WF have a "Technology" forum to host questions about the tools that warriors use? |

John I can see where you're coming from but I'd probably say no to that suggestion for the following reasons:

Being a 40 hr a week technerd, i wouldnt mind a tech forum here. I know there are questions that pop up, you can't help it considering that our respective businesses are based on computers and technology

Well I don't think it has but I wish that it could have so that we can help one more WF member who needs our help. I know members in this forum really likes to help each other.

I think it would be a good service to the Warriors. The reason you dont see those questions pop up to often, is because warriors go elsewhere to ask tech related questions, in order to not flood the forum with non marketing type questions. It would be nice to see such a sub forum - especially since we have a forum to hire techies. I have needed help a few times, and went to DP to ask. Man, I hate doing that. |

I don't see anything wrong with the occasional techie question posted in the main forum, strictly speaking maybe it should be posted in Off Topic, but the odd one creeps in and is answered and that seems OK. If it can relate to your ability to make money and can be of benefit to other members in their quest for their next million - then fine, but I still don't think it warrants its own home. You see questions on taxation law, accountancy and bookkeeping but there's no real need for a finances sub forum. Obviously it would be Allen's decision anywaysup. Personally, even if Allen starts one I can see it being a virtual ghost town with so few replies to questions that you'd have been better off posting in a dedicated techie forum. Peter |

I can see both sides of this. There are a lot of people here that use scripts on their sites that they don't fully understand. There are also a ton of other tech products that IMers use to make money - Dedicated servers, php scripts, shopping cart software. Of course there are some subforums on programming, but that's kind of narrow for all of the tech questions out there. However once any subject has it's own subforum, the viewers automatically drop off. Would there be more questions if there were a proper place for them? Who knows? |
