Distributing digital product

What do you consider to be the best way to distribute a digital product given the following attributes:

16 video files about 300-500mb
8 video files about 90,000kb
Folder of PDFs about 80mb
Works easy with affiliates

The two choices I were thinking would be (1) one or a few zip files or (2) creating a site with login credentials so people could download.

Has anybody tried either one and can detail pros and cons?

My thinking is that a zip file might be too big and slow for some people. However, a website might take more upkeep (users forgetting passwords). Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

    You may find that having a membership site with your content hosted on S3 or other Cloud/CDN is the way to go. In this you can simultaneously protect your content from theft and avoid bandwidth issues.

    I second Jaggyjay on that.

    A membership site also also looks more professional - it's way more brandable, and you can always put new stuff up, you have yet another direct channel with your customers... and so on!

    Break up the individual files and let your customers allow them to download them in bulk, or individually.

    Thanks for the replies so far everyone. Since it's a simple digital product, I didn't think a membership site would be useful or worth the effort. I will definitely reconsider. Maybe throw up a forum to answer questions.

    To wordpressmania - think you have the wrong person. My last post was on Aug 6th and was in regards to affiliate options for this product and you didn't respond to that thread.

    I don't see why it wouldn't be worth it to make it into a membership site. You then then also keep adding content, so people will have a reason to stay subscribing and giving you money each month... I really like the idea of membership sites and the residual $ effect you can get with that.

    Individual links with them hosted on an S3 account. I put mine behind Optimize Press and DAP and each link has a 15 minute expiration so that they cannot be stolen.

    I would say that the S3 solution that is mentioned on here is a great method. I would also say that it really depends on what you want to do yourself. If you don't feel like getting too involved in the process then I would suggest splitting up the downloads and putting them on a website download page. I would also suggest having a special offer on the download page so that way people can buy other products that you have for sell. It is a known fact that someone that buys from you in most cases is willing to buy it again from you. That is why you see one time offers in most cases from Internet marketers.
