Newbie: What are the basic first steps to marketing a product?

I've had websites for years but none monetized. I now have a product to market. I've been lurking here, reading everything. It's like drinking water from a fire hydrant. So much good stuff but I don't know where to really start or what should be my next priorities.

Here's my situation. I have a series of ebooks on Amazon, B&N, Kobo, etc. I've got a website, Wordpress powered, with the Yoast SEO plugin. I've submitted to Google Webmaster Tools and the site is indexed. Each book, six of them, sit on their own page. I've set up a MailChimp newsletter with subscription form on each page.

That's as far as I've gone. The books have been available for about three or four weeks and are selling some without any other help. One stays in the top 30 in its genre. Of course, the goal is to sell many more books. What are the three or four basic steps I should take next?

And since I'm still a noob, you may have to explain some of the terms. Thanks guys.

    I'd suggest searching for forums/blogs where people are asking questions that your books could answer, then post a link to your page - of course, give them some incentive by giving a sneak peak of "the answer"

      When I post the link do I include my keywords as the link text? Or do I just do a "click here" or "more info" or something similar?

    Yea you completely doing it backwards, but that's ok, you got the easy part down. Now it's time to learn the basic fundamentals of traffic generation.
