Alexa Top 500 Global Sites

I couldn't believe it myself either. Facebook is now number one.

Good thing I've been integrating Facebook marketing more and more these days. It seems things are looking pretty darn good for marketing on Facebook.

What do you guys think?

  I don't think they "win" anything except traffic.
  
  Facebook makes WAY less money than Google because it's harder to monetize.

I really think that Facebook is such a "busy" site and seems to change often. I had set up my friends a certain way as I knew some wanted to hear from me concerning business, while other did not...then FB changed and messed all that up.

So I am not sure how great it works for marketing...like FB pages that got set up and then FB changed and gone were thousands of FB fan pages. That was about the time I invested in a FB app that well...not the fault of the developer but I am sure he lost big.

I mainly use FB for family, friends and private groups with the occasional, hey guys check this out update...

I like Google's clean look and circle manager. Makes reading very pleasant.

I don't like Google+ at all. I have not caught on to it. Maybe it's just that I don't like change. Or that I wish there weren't so many sites to use, lol!

I've seen many online store in FB though they don't have real online shopping carts most of them are doing well. I think FB should take advantage of it and make an option to have an online shopping cart for business pages and a good search tool perhaps...

see the trend of FB and G's stock price, you will see who beat who. FB can not compete with G at all. The big investors had already made the decision.

Facebook is now being used as a commercial place. Which means, creating fake profiles is not getting increased in numbers in last few months. Facebook also not interested to control these fake profiles because it gets profit of these. It seems, FB is not ready to provide useful information to the end users.

But Google is not like FB. Every changes in Google is only made for making the end users satisfied. Whenever users search for any query, Google always wants to show the best results to users. Thats why Google keeps updating its algorithms often nowadays.

Now FB can get number one but its very difficult to stay on that position. Finally, FB can compete with Google but never won because the first preference for FB is for profit and Google is for users.

I don't think that both are related in anyway. if we are getting help from facebook for ranking than it's all okay. it doesn't matter for us financially who beat whom. what matter most is we should work on both of them to get out profit..

There is no comparision between Facebook and Google.Google helps us to have the exact solutions of all our queries.And facebook on the other part is a social media site that is medium to get interacted with anyone around the globe.It is vastly spread to reach everyone easily.On the other hand, Google is vastly spread to reach to your solutions in any field whether it is social media like facebook etc or a simple query you will definitely find an answer in Google
Thus I simply want to say that we you want to search facebook on Google you can easily find it. But what to search Google on facebook you will not get any results.So, Google is the best.

You should know that google goes by country as for example google.ca, .uk etc

Two different things in my view. One is a search engine that is trying to become the owner of the internet and has lost the plot with G+ in my opinion. Whilst the other is a social network. Interesting that Facebook stole the head of Google advertising a while back, I forgot her name. I wonder if that has anything to with these statistics?

Facebook traffic can be used for profit in some ways, but compared to google its just a huge joke. With google you can make almost unlimited money...with facebook the limits are not that big, as most of the people there are teens with no money. Or adult who behave like teens, with no money.

I think it is good for internet marketers that Facebook and Google are competing for the
top spot. I saw a thread here that says not to rely on Google. But I believe that we will
need to use both platforms if we want to get good traffic results and we will just have to adapt to the changes made by these two giants.

Facebook is addicting and a great way to market and stay in front of your followers. Ie customers. I'f your not using it your crazy. I don't think it matters the amount of traffic. What I like is the stickiness. You can engage your audience on a whole different level.

I really haven't started using google + at all.

Google has all the money and they will remain a head of the game for a while.

In my point facebook not having muck capabilities to beat google,because facebook concentrate in Social networking field but the google perform task in all field so its not possible to beat the google.

I think that they are 2 different markets, and it is much easier to reach people on facebook if you try. Marketers are finding new and exciting ways to reach people and make money on facebook each day

It's no surprise that Facebook become no. 1 in traffic. However, Google is still better off, because it's way easier for them to make money. Both Facebook and Google are making their money primarily from advertising, but the issue is: where has Facebook the potential to offer advertising and where Google? Google has so much more opportunities to offer advertising than Facebook does...

The problem with facebook advertising is the fact that its interrupt marketing. These people aren't looking for anything in particular, they just want to post a picture of their baby sleeping or whatever.

Google searchers on the other hand, are looking for information or a product to help them solve a problem. Your click thru rate is going to be much higher.
