If you toot your own horn about what you have done online will help you increase your chances of success! People love to hear and learn/buy from someone who has already made money online! If you can toot your own horn, people will hear that and they will gravitate to you!

Leaving aside the hygiene aspect, it's much more powerful to have others toot your horn for you.

    It's usually more fun, too.

You'd think that were the case. In fact...

for a long time I, too, thought having success

was the way to get more success.

...but the opposite is often true.

People care little about other peoples success.

It's not that persons story they're buying into....

...it's the person they *think* they want to become.

They're imagining themselves in those peoples

shoes...so even when you think it's YOUR story
that's selling them...they're buying from you be-
cause they want to tell the same story themselves.

...until they realize, of course, they're story is not

the same and...it's totally unique from everyone
    elses.

...but that's a story for another day

    Let's see, my writing has:

    Cured cancer
    Paid the national debt
    Gotten me laid 3 times
Saved little Timmy from the well
Brought your favorite pet back from the dead
    Reunited long lost twins
Confirmed that Dumbledore was in fact gay
    Revitalized the travel industry
    Cured erectile disorders

Among other things. You're right, tooting your own horn is good for an ego boost or self promotion! Oh...that's not what you were going for here, was it?

You should always be careful with 'tooting your own horn', as it can sometimes backfire and you may seem like the typical 'guru' whose product is worth pretty much nothing. You have to get a balance. When selling a product, your potential customers or clients want to know how you can help them, and how you are qualified to help them.

Would be better if somebody else toots your horn for you... much like how offline marketing professionals toots Dan Kennedy's or Jay Abraham's horn.
