Fiverr and Expectations from People

Now I realise why it is so bad. I am a fairly popular writer on there. I do have work in other places, so this is more to supplement my income. I love some of the clients, a pleasure to work with. Today I just get the crazy people out though!

1 Guy had me editing his articles for four hours, just minor edits. Nothing more than that, just changing paragraphs around + adding a little content he said he forgot from the original order. He ended up with almost triple the amount of words that he ordered (I think he got around 4,000). It took me 1 hour to write the original articles. So five hours in total. Now you would think, 5 hours, that's less than $1 an hour, but wait, there is more! Once he received the articles he claimed that it didn't pass copyscape, i got a little worried about this (and fairly upset) as I would NEVER take content from anywhere. So I grabbed $10 of credit for premium, run it through, lo and behold. It passes fine. (i think it had around 4 words the same from his source material). Which means in total, for 5 hours of work I had to pay out $5. Which means I lost money working for this client. Too many people expect too much for what they pay, and the thing is, you have to bow to every whim or you get negative feedback and you lose sales as a result (never received negative feedback thankfully)

Today, some guy orders 10 eBooks. Around 6,000 words each. Fantastic! I have 71 orders in my queue. He doesn't want to pay 'extra' as its too expensive. Yet he wants these eBooks delivered in just 2 days, that's right, 60,000 words in two days. There is not a writer alive who would be able to deliver that (not a sane one at least)...that's working 48 hours straight, with around 1250 words an hour.

On top of all of that, I have people asking for constant discounts because they are ordering content en mass. Which I am not going to give them, and yet they insist on it.

So basically people.

If you are looking to go on fiverr, don't! I won't be leaving fiverr anytime soon. It provides me a nice stream of income (which is almost guaranteed) and it is ideal for filling up time when I don't have writing for anywhere else. I also love some of the clients that return to me time and time again, many have outsourced me for even more money than they pay on fiverr (they made an effort to track down my writing portfolio)

So in short, that is my rant for the day!
