What Do You Think Of "Sniper" Sites?

Hey guys,

Interested in this method and wanted to know what you all think of 1 page Wordpress "sniper" sites. The type that that have one or sometimes a few articles, an about me, contact me, and a privacy policy page?

Are these kind of sites still profitable today with affiliate products and can they rank very well in google at all? I read that one page sites like this are worthless from an SEO perspective since you need an authoritative website. Which is also important since I would want them to rank if possible.

I've been reading allot about them and some swear it works, while others claim they are useless and will never make a dime. Would love to hear everyones comments on this, especially those of you that have first hand experience of how they work for you if you are using this business model to profit!

Bring on the opinions and comments! Thanks!

They are very hard to rank for, and very hard to sell from...when they stand alone. I would recommend starting a blog with quality content and/or video, then using the sniper site as a squeeze page. That's been my experience.

Remember, gain trust first with quality content.

Google doesn't care about quality content. I've successfully ranked domain names, that had a blank page for a website. Where's the content on that? I've come across many sites that rank for words that don't even feature the word on their site, let alone page, and talk about a completely different topic.

There are many keywords, that you can rank for with relative ease. Just think about the billions of keywords out there. Have a keyword? Change the word order, you now have a different keyword. There's billions of word combinations.

It's not really recommended to have a single page site by the IM crowd, but it's definitely possible to rank them.

"Ranked" meaning what? And what were the keywords? Obviously it was a no competition keyword.

Your statement that G doesn't care about quality content is laughable. The whole system is set up for the cream to rise to the top. There are some hiccups here and there, but nothing too major.

I am sure that Google doesn't give a crap about quality content, (i don't care what professional Google liar Matt Cutts says) it can't really read and it can't see grammar errors. if it could that all my sites where i have written my own content would be down by now and they are still going strong

A member (i am sorry i forgot his name) here showed his website on WF, he is nr1 for the term ddrol, if you look at the content he has you will see that he has none, I know its only 6k results but still he is on top with no content...

Also the dup content on the same domain is a myth to, i have about 50 sites that i use for lead generation for small businesses, i have one piece of content of about 1500 words, not spung, the only thing that changes is the city/town names... (I use the local pages ninja plugin for this) my average site consists out of 500 pages of the 99,98% of the SAME content... 75% of all these pages are in the top 3 for city + keyword with duplicated content...

I strongly belief that Google is using scare tactics to keep webmasters in check, and all the hard work of Matt Cutts (lying his ass off) seem to work quite well looking at this and other threads on WF and other forums...

@OP why don't you just try it out, a .info domain is $0,99- write some articles do some baclinking and write a WSO on how you create snipersites after panda

I've seen "sniper" sites selling clickbank products, created by clickbank vendors. I don't think you need to worry about Google as much and a vendor's "sniper" site will get the job done as far as clickbank affiliates are concerned, as long as it sells of course

If you can make 50 quick sites that each make 1 sale a month...
or 1 quality site that makes 50 sales a month....

      Is there a difference?

It all comes down to ROI on time and money in the end.

        Daztrouk,

That's absolutely funny. Blank pages huh lol. Was this pre panda and penguin? Or after they implemented the update? Either way, it would be nice to know as I just don't want to waste my time. I'd love to know how you get your sites ranked with blank pages, that's just awesome. Your my hero haha! If you don't mind, i'd love to pick your brain on Skype! PM me if you can! Thanks.

        Gec,

Good point. I just wanted to know if this still worked after this whole panda penguin update. Some swear its a waste of time but then again, probably never even made any of the sites so that's why I was asking to those out there that are actually doing it. Makes sense!

        Gromo,

That makes complete sense to me. And to be quite honest the quality site might make more then 1 sale a month, but realistically how much time investment was needed to achieve it. Seems like the quick sites are easy to set up and you can probably get 2-3 done in a day. The only hard part is to do it properly and rank them. Have you made any of these yourself?

Bigger sites work better but you can succeed with these so-called "sniper" sites (with about 5 pages of content) if you are targeting non-competitive keywords.

The more content you have on your site, the better. And also let me mention that the content has to be quality, no garbage please.

Still working like a charm for us. We develop one page sites for local lead generation and we do the same for single product drop shipping sites. Both are still pretty easy to get ranked depending of course on the competition level.

I don't think sniping websites are so effective now after Google's search algorithm changes that now favors brands, which means you'll need to write more content. 1 page wordpress sites won't work, but something with 5 posts or so would work - you can also try to snipe for variations of the search results.

The first project that made me any reliable income was a sniper site, with only 4 posts and very little knowledge of SEO. This was post PANDA and it survived PENGUIN (or whatever it is).
My biggest mistake was in not following the golden rule: focus on one thing at a time and if it works, scale it up!
