Default Linking between your own websites = Google penalty?

Hey guys

I've heard that Google doesn't like when you link between your own websites.

So, if for instance 2 websites have one and the same owner, putting a link from one to another may lead to some form of penalty from google.

So many things are changing nowadays in search engines...

cheers

I imagine the product in your signature would have some information about this.

I don't know if that's true. I've never had a problem.

But, it may be in how and what you link rather than the link itself. If you're linking to relevant content back and forth, I don't see where that would be a problem. Google supposedly wants a good experience for readers and, if the links are relevant, I don't see why it would matter if it's another of your own sites or someone else's.

But, if you're linking as sort of your own internal link farm, then perhaps you might have problems.

Your own site or some one else does not matter.
if your page is stuffed with keywords google does not like it
so too much of links G does not like that either.

TOO MUCH OF everything is bad

As with most tactics that could be dodgey, 99% of the time it will work like this.....

Google won't penalise you, it just won't give you and credit for the links, so it will basically = nothing. The only time you will be penalised is when you do something to the extreme.

I can say for certain you won't be penalised unless you're creating some sort of interlinked farm.

My company has hundreds of clients that we created high profile websites for hosted on our own servers(same IP address). In each website there is an anchor text link back to our own website. There has been no penalty.

If i'm to be accurate, i'd say it's given us higher Google rankings, but only very very slightly and if each site had not been hosted on the same server than i'm positive there would have been more impact on our rankings for the better.

It's not a link, the link is below it, newbie marketers manual.

I used part 1 of the book as evidence of the good techniques in the book rather than promise the world in a sales letter. I'll link it since you brought it up then ty

If things look suspicious, like only linking to each other, of course..

Link where it makes sense to, and don't worry about Google. At worst, they would just not count your links, but it's pretty natural to link to your other sites.
